A few noob questions

So earlier today I decided to make a jump butt.

I have never seen a cue made out of cedar. I was planning on making 4 points and using a combination of red cedar and american holly. Any cuesmiths know of a reason this would be a no go?

If I get too frustrated with it I am just gonna contract it out lol.

I was unaware of this...of course when working in the shop I always wear a painter's mask, goggles, and ear protection too

That is a very good habit to develop now instead of later when you have problems. Both woods you mentioned are not the best for structural parts. But since it is a Jump cue it should be okay as a little warping is not the end of the world on that short of cue, if it does move.

Painters mask, or a respirator type mask? There is a big difference. It should be a half face mask with filter packs, not the doctor type masks, which gives a great sense of security, but not any real protection.

I use a disposable doctor type...always have. If its that bad I guess I could dig my m40 out and use that.

I can only speak for eastern cedar. I have had access to those all My life, and still have a few growing at home. It's a pretty wood, smells good too, but I would not use it in a cue. Not only does It not do It for me structurally, but I'm not trilled about the density or tone either. It has It's uses I suppose, just that I personally would not want to use it in a cue.

I say go for it. Like Chris said, if warping isn't gonna bother you, it would be a fun project. Who knows, It might not even warp and you'll definitly have a one of a kind hopper.

Neither wood is particularly noteworthy for their strength, but for the intended use, it may suffice. Of course, that's advice from a newb.
