I agree with Higgins and Selby being given the highest ratings. I used to love those two, then I lost my respect for Higgins, you know why. Higgins is a class of his own, cool and consistent. Selby is close to his level, and also a very strong player psychologically, already very mature, at least in the sense of taking a lot of his games into deciders - and winning.
I can see why Trump would be rated so high - after all those newcomers getting to the finals in the last decade - but no. He's not there yet. To me, he's where Ding was a few years back. [edit: yeah, so he defeated the ruling champ. But those mistakes... We still get to see what he's really made of. Robertson can be uneven and certainly wasn't playing his best snooker in that game].
I'm curious about Mark Williams, who appears to be back to somewhere near his best level. Also Stephen Lee - I'm not saying he has a chance of winning the trophy, but he may be able to get close to the final. He's a bit underrated, I'd say. [edit: now I see whom he's got to face... tough road there]
Of course, I'd like to see Stephen Hendry win the tournament, but the odds are really, really low. He can still play brilliant snooker, but for like two or three matches at most.
Who do you guys think?
