After almost a year after their press release, their website is still "underconstruction". They have a mission statement, a few quotes and a list of members and that is about it. No backbone or substance to their organization in my opinion at least at this point.
Much like this interview, they know they need to do something but don't really know how to do it. They should have had their ducks in a row before this press conference.We could point the finger at the ABP "president", but their are 11 other members who could have stepped up too.
If I were them I would be organizing my own tournaments. Yes, that means actually getting on the phone and calling people, sponsors, casinos, vendors etc. A little self promotion and sales work. But with what appears to be their lack of organizational skills, they probably wouldn't succeed.
If they had X number of their own events each year, they could easily not show up at questionable events. They would have more power to make sure the money is put in escrow. Eventually, this would become the norm.
As it stands right now, they are little more than a group of disgruntled players who didn't get paid, so they formed this new "players association." I'm not trying to bash them at all. Just saying they need help. I agree with their direction, but they need to put it solidly down on paper. This is what they stand for and this is what they are going to do. They need to create goals, timelines, delegate tasks and have objectives to be accomplished. This is what businesses do. This is what organizations do. Yes, it does take a little money, but more importantly it takes a little sweat and hard work.
Just like running a rack of 8-ball, you have to have a game plan and then execute it.
I hope this is thread is taken as constructive criticism because that is all it is intended to be.
