Predator shaft with a standard ferrule

Anyone play with a Predator shaft with a replacement ferrule that is just a standard one? Does it allow the same type of aim or are we dealing with pretty much a regular shaft now?

If you change the ferrule and keep the shafts design in tact, meaning, You didn't plug the hole, Different ferrules have different deflective properties, as do tips. If you have the shaft plugged and install a regular ferrule, It will increase deflection, Depending on your own personal thoughts and requirements for your own game, this could either be good or bad. Without shipping your shafts out, it could be hard finding someone who is willing to plug the shaft to do what you want locally. Some Cue makers and repair people who are respectful to certain designs of other makers, will not alter certain things.

Thanks Mike, the issue is that I got a Predator shaft (used), when it arrived it turned out to have a non-original ferrule. It's for Alex, but he played with a non-modified Predator which he liked, I'm a bit afraid also that there is no way of knowing the quality of the replacement. Although there is a noticable black line between the shaft and ferrule and the tip is half-way off the thing.

I'm sure you already know this but, I'll say it again. Not everyone offering and doing cue repairs, should be offering and doing cue repairs. I read the ATCM a couple time a week, I never doubt some people want to learn but I definitely find humor in some of the suggestions to the questions. But I guess that's the beauty of a forum, Anyone can participate. :welcome:

I had an original 314 shaft (from 1999/2000 kind of time), that had been pretty beat up over the years, I had it turned down, and a new tip/ferrule put on. The guy who did my work, filled where the 'foam' used to be, with epoxy and put a medium length ferrule on there with a hard lepro tip and i broke with it until the stick got knocked over on a tile floor and broke. I'll say it had no difference in cue deflection at all compared to original. But that's just my 2 cents, the thing broke the balls spectacularly. :thumbup:
