99c Sets

What do you think of this business model? They're renting these sets through YouTube for 99c each. It has to be watched within 24 hours. I'm wondering if this will generate more revenue than selling DVDs or live streams for $15 - $28.

I would think that it has a very good shot at doing just that. Example, I spent about $25 on 99ct apps and other content the past two weeks at Itunes. I wouldn't buy a $25 pool match DVD if someone had a gun to my head with all the great free content out there. Those days are OVER for the most part.

And before you all ***** at me, I owned (own) about 40 AccuStats tapes which I paid an average of $20 each for. TAPES as in VHS. And about ten DVDs.

Now, I want content on demand and I want it cheap or free with ads. That's the future of digital content.

About the only thing I will spend much on is PPV live streams. And that's because there is something about watching it happening in real time and being one of the relatively few people on Earth to see something happen for the first time ever that's worth it to me. But even then I am constrained by time as in I can't give up three days to watch it all.

I'd say that this is a good move and should be good for them. Digital files never die. Some video I put up three years ago is approaching 100,000 views. My total cost to put those vids up was less than $200 and they are still generating adverting impressions for Fury Cues.

If the quality at full screen is good, I'll pay 99 cents to watch. While I love how much content the tournament and room owners have made available, I don't enjoy watching it so much in a small browser window when it's recorded at low resolution. Free is good, but good stuff free is even better :grin-square:

It looks to me like the resolution is pretty good but I guess we can't download them anyway.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

Thanks cousins! :(

Oh, wait- you're in the UK and this is a Florida tournament. So Americans can download them. I'm getting it mixed up with that Canadian tournament.

When I watch Earl's set about mid-week I'll let you know how it was. : )
