Boston & Montreal Pool Rooms
Have to ask ... when you travel how do you do so with your sticks or do you play with house cues when you get there?
With all the fees for checked bags now and TSA issues it seems to me that it would be quite difficult.
Or maybe your driving?

Typically I travel in a large RV so shot guns, fishing gear & pool cues are always on the packing list. If I need to travel by air with a cue I use a large duffle styled wheeled bag that is big enough to hold a 2x4 case inside with my clothes & I just deal with the cost of checking bags. I always use a TSA approved lock to secure the bag.
For this trip which is a cruise with my wife, I'll either carry a small "emergency kit" with chalk, tip shaper, shaft smoothing material & talc dispenser so I can use a house cue just to hit a few, or, I'll stick an old cue in a 1x1 case in my suitcase.
Depends what brand of table you want to play on. (for Montreal)

I can't help you there unfortunately. We had the "Montreal`s Pool Room" but its just a hot dog joint now

I find shipping my cues out UPS to the hotel a few days before works for me.
There are no historic rooms left in Boston. Other than the Boston Bowl on Morrissey BlVD. The place is basically the same as it was 50 years ago. No action anymore but if the walls could talk, that room has seem tons of action , road agents, championship level players ect. It was the mecca of pool rooms in New England.
Jillians on Lansdown St. tons of tables but not really a players room. Best room around is Snookers in RI. Pool has really died in the Boston Area

This place was renovated so it now looks like a cigar lounge 2003ish style. My father used to play snooker there in the 60's though.
Or else, this place has more of a smokey billiard room feeling. More snooker tables than billiards.

Yeah I forgot about Boul Noir but then again, they changed half of the table cloth for red....yuck!
Columbia Billiards in Boston is about the oldest room around there. It is about 1-2 miles away from Boston Bowl on Morrisey Blvd.
The room is on the second floor and many years ago it had a bowling alley on the third floor with the kids as pin setters. Talk about old
It is located in Uphams Corner on Columbia Road. It is not the nicest area of the city. If you go you should go during the day and park out front. NOT IN THE BACK LOT.
The room has maybe three 5 x 10 Billiard tables that they play mostly straight billiards on. About 10-12 1945-1950 vintage Gandy tables, I believe thats what they are. I would call first and get a line on his current hours.
The room has a couple of old Brunswick swivell cue holders and if you look in the office there may be an old mantle type wall mounted cue rack as well.
The house man Garland is a good player and nice guy. The owner Nick is also a good guy. If you go say Billy the electrician sent you. Good Luck and safe travels.
