Shot-clock sudden death rules - which tournament is that?

This month I read about some tournament to be played under interestin sudden death rules, meaning if time limit set for a match is reached sudden death is called and both opponents are considered to be on the hill, thus they play a rack for the match. But I don't remember what tournament it is and couldn't even find where I read it. Any clues?
 
Pat Fleming at Accu-Stats is working on that rule set... They have had several challenge matches to test the waters... In addition to the sudden death/shot clock they have a required pushout to start each game... Head over to the Accu-Stats site and you can find the info and a match or 2 under the new format.....

I don't quite understand how that rule could work. What's to stop a player that is losing from just slow playing until the time limit in order to force a hill hill?
 
Hahah... Reading comprehension is for everyone.... Pat is using a shot clock and sudden death happens when the players are all tied up if it's a few games from the specified race length..... I have heard of several tournaments that have toyed with the idea of sudden death at the end of a specified amount of time.... Not sure off the top of my head what they were......

That's not a reading comprehension issue. I was going off of the information that i read and i think i comprehended it as well as it was written. Thanks for the clarification by the way.
 
It was my reading comprehension that was off... I didn't even register that sudden death was enforced by a time limit in the original question so I don't think it was the Accu-Stats rules that the OP was looking for...:smile:
 
That is an APA rule at higher tournaments. If the time limit for the match expires and you have not started the last round the rest of the matches are played to 1 (hill-hill).
 
sorry if my post led to confusion, I was going to look for that info for that very reason: to get the rules once again ;) The Renfro, thanks for the hint!
