My first Soft Tip Experience and questions

Hi Folks,

I've been using moori medium all the time and I just got my first moori soft tip a couple of weeks ago.
The soft tip is perfect when I play on a slow table, the ones with a rug cloth, I was able to put a lot more spins on my cue ball and my long shots are still as accurate as they were when using a medium.

When I play on a fast table, say diamond table, my long shots are messed up. A friend of mine told me it's because I unintentionally apply too much english by using the soft tip. I tend to use a lot of spin to control my cue ball movement and soft tip does give me more spins that I wasn't able to do with medium tip.

If you use a soft tip on fast tables, what's your suggestion to me to improve my long shots?

hes half right but i think u need to work on long shots maybe do some striaght in drills hit the cue ball and have it come back to ure cue tip , do this have someone watch and u may find u have a simple flaw in ure stroke that can easily be fixed, remember a good player always adapts to conditons
 
thank you. I did this drill a lot using medium and I will repeat with soft tip. It just frustrates me that my long shots were messed up.

i told a member on my team to do this drill forme and i could see she was hitting cue ball to the right , even though she swears she shoots straight , .....:thumbup:
 
Keep in mind that a Moori soft is only a couple of points lower than a medium and both are in the 90's. There is very little difference between all of the moori tips. And all Moori tips including the soft have a higher hardness than most hard tips on the market.

I found some "SOFT BUFFALO HIDE" tips on E-bay. At the time I got 5 tips for $7.50. For that price I figured I couldn't get hurt trying them. I replaced my triangle tip. It took a few shots to grow accustomed to the hit.
What I found was that if I take about half of my stroke off, I am able to easily move the cue ball anywhere I want, with much more control. I do make sure that I've got a good, consistent follow thru. Has made hella difference in my game. Each to their own, but I'm sold! By the way, I play on Simonis 860, and recently new Takini cloth (every bit as playable as 760).

moori medium tests around 72 based on durometer readings.... I think only G10 and some phenolics test in the 90s..
