2 pocket-one pocket table

Scenario:

2 players are playing some $20, race to 5, 9-ball sets on the prime gambling table.

2 other players are jawing and put together a $2,000 one hole match and ask to play on that table. It should be a good match and one of the players is somewhat iconic.

What should you do?

Stall your planning and let them finish their set of 9 ball first and then play your 1-hole.

IMO
If they want the table bad enough, they should at least offer to pick up your table time. If they are polite about the situation.

or, 'Sure you can have the table, just let us finish our little race'

or, "you can have the table as soon as we are finished"

I don't see a problem with letting them play as long as they don't mind waiting until your set is done.

give it up

Not even a question. You give up the table. You of course finish the current game and then rack the next game of your 9 ball set on your new table.Of course your opponent has to agree.

Just wanted to add every room should have a 1 pocket table where no hard-break games are played.

i've had something like this hpapen to me a few times. i finished my set and then gave up the table. it's not out of line to tell them they should pay your time if they want it "right now"

As any one else, they should wait until it's their turn.
Why should you skip ahead of the que because you are somewhat famous or have money?

My $20 set is still worth more to me than their $2000 set is. They can wait until I am done, should have gotten there earlier or called ahead.

Sadly, in all the years I've been in the game I've only seen this once, in an 8 table room in Endicott, NY. The place only lasted a short time.
As far as me giving up the table, it depends on how they go about asking for it and if they want to pay our table time for it. If we aren't done
playing they can damn well play on another table. I've seen some real jerks go about this like they owned the table and thought anyone else should
immediately give it up.

If they're playing for 2k they can afford 20 to each of us. Or the time. Depends how nice they're being and if I know them, too. Otherwise, they can wait til the set's over.

Stop being a nit and change tables at the end of your rack in process.

That's BS. i worked hard for my dough. i if i'm gambling then i'm finishing my set up unless they want to buy us out. if i'm stuck i might not give the table up at all unless they bought me out. hell if i'm winning i might not give the table up at all. i dont' book a lot of winners so if i'm winning i might not want to pull up.

i got no problem giving up my table or quitting if it's the first set. but if i'm into something they're going to have to do more than just ask me politely to move if i'm 3-4 sets into something

kinda the same

me and my wife was at a poolhall and we were just playing for fun and a couple of guys wanted to play a $$match and it wass free pool from open till 6pm on the day by the way the room has only 2 9ft tables and the 1 we were playing on was the better 1 of the 2 anyway 1 of the guys that worked there came and told us that we had to get off the table after the game we was playing was over cause they had reserved the table but they dont resvere tables there . i didnt mind but thought they could have been a little nice about it but the wife was so mad that she didnt want to play anymore and doesnt want to go back there again i tried to explain to her that the its a $ match and we were just banging balls but she didnt care and still doesnt like playing there.

its my table?

OK coin toss - I know you and like you, i take my action to another table - I dont know you, but respect your gamble/game - i take my action to another table --- A show of class always works - other than that ---

other than that, its pay to play or get in line -

Been there done that...

If they are respecful, i will finish my set and then give them the table. But if they have an attitude, I wouldn't give them the table. In fact, I would probably lock the table up for the rest of the night just because they have an attitude. People need to stop riding nuts of guys just cuz they have money, they don't deserve any special treatment just because they can play good either. Every decent customer deserves the same respect no matter how good they play or how much money they have. JMO

If I'm playing one pocket for $2K, I don't care where I play if I have the nuts. To argue about the table tells me someone was weak in the game and was trying to get an edge. There's only one good table?

Finish your match and get ready to watch the action.

Or you could offer to play either player for the same wager.

or you could accept a payoff for the table if they are foaming at the mouth and can't wait.

or you and you buddy could agree to postpone your match and be gentlemen and just step aside.

I would probably step aside unless my opponent wouldn't agree to postpone our match. In that case I would thrash him and then step aside.
