Cuetec and the pros that use them

Cuetec with a Elkmaster tip is the main ingredient!

Cuetec with a Elkmaster tip is the main ingredient! Elkmaster tip on just about any shaft works wonders!!

It's interesting how often Efren's "cheap" cue comes up in discussions of this sort. Has anyone shot a few balls with it? Nobody ever mentions how warped that cue was, makes me doubt people "know" much of anything about that cue. Anyone ever considered that at low two-digit dollars it may have been among the finest and most expensive he could get in the Philippines at the time?

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

It was so warped, that he never had to move the cue in any direction to put spin on the ball. He basically aimed every shot with center ball, but would just spin the cue in his hand until the warp of the cue put the tip on the desired location. Of course I'm kidding here, but I bet all of you had the vision of him doing it in your head! LOL

Seriously though, another main reason people don't care for Cuetecs is the simple fact that the old ones were stencil and sticker cues. No points to speak of. I'm not sure of the R360 as I have never seen one up close. Maybe someone here can tell me if they now produce a cue with actual points instead of stickers and stencils.

I have a Scorpion cue that I bought just because I wanted to support Johnny, but I don't like the hit at all!

I also have THE actual Cuetec cue that Earl played with when he and team USA won the 1998 Mosconi Cup. He signed the shaft and gave it to me. That shaft was not fiberglass!! In fact, the very next year when I saw Earl at the Mosconi Cup, he told me how much he regreted giving away that cue because he loved it! He did it because he wanted to give something that he valued to an American soldier to thank them for what they do. Thanks Earl!

In Chicken Ranch ( a legal Brothel in Pahrump, Nevada ), they have very a nice 7 footer and 10 cuetech cues. The tips on all the 10 cues are in very good shape. The next door is Sheri`s Ranch and at Sheri`s they had excellant 7 footer but the sticks are not cuetech. I wish I know how to post those pictures.
