I'm traveling the highways trying to see every room in the continental U.S. before they all close. I'm getting stories, history and pictures. I'll try to post two rooms, with front door picts, every week (Mon & Fri). If any has any good stories, info, etc., please share.

I started on I29 in Grand Forks, ND so this is the first room I was at.

I'll post another on Friday. BTW, I am in the Kansas City area right now.

Jay If you finish your trip back up in Fargo, get a picture of Billiards on Broadway. If you cant, I might have one in my files for you.

Dennis,

Sorry but it's wasn't in operation when I was there. I do understand tho that Marc is going to reopen in another location, if my info is right.

I certainly will visit when and if. Heck, I've known the Fargo guys way to many years and it has been my pleasure to do so.

Poolfire, Raytown Rec, Nickel Spot

Thanks to Poolfire, I can still get my butt beat. We played some one hole at Raytown Rec on an old 10' Brunswick-Balke-Collander table they call "Big Bertrha". What a fine gentleman he is! I would also like to thank him for his service as he is a fireman for Kansas City. Maybe I'll get you next time. : )

I am finally leaving Kansas City and headed to Joplin, Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Shreveport. It is getting cold and time to head South.

Last room from Sioux Falls. The Nickel Spot.

There's a joint in Joplin with 1pocket tables that only have 2 pockets. OLD AE Schmitt if I remember right.

we are all a little envious- please share!

We can all name countless poolrooms lost in the last ten years- your record will be historical.

If you're not planning something even bigger already, there are online services where you can make your own coffee table photo book. You don't do any printing or binding- you just upload and arrange the photos, add some captions, and then anybody can look at a preview of it and order a copy printed and mailed. You get some cut of the money, but how much I don't know.

If you have time, and this is feasible, please make one and give us a link- it may help to recover a little of your expenses.

(Also, please include a photo of both the outside and inside of each room, with a date.)

Hey, this is a cool idea and a fun experience I am sure, if you head back up north to Minnesota, there is a small place in Saint Paul called "Al's billiard's" it's a small two level building that has been a pool hall for a while, and it is near the state fair grounds for future reference. Also if you make you way through more of Minnesota there is a place in Saint Cloud called "Duck's Pub and Billiards" that's a pretty sweet spot to play. Good luck on your journey and I am looking forward to following along.

2 pocket one pocket table

There's a joint in Joplin with 1pocket tables that only have 2 pockets. OLD AE Schmitt if I remember right.

Sitting at a McDonald's (free wifi) in Neosho, Mo, so I thought I would do some replies.

Ask and you shall receive. It's a modified Brunswick-Balke-Collander. My understanding is that there are only 4 of these in existence.

Note that the racking end of the table is where there are NO pockets. The locals call the game. "Long-end one pocket".

The "Pirate" invites anyone to come in and try him some.

BTW, it is located at O K Bar & Billiards in Joplin, MO.

That's the idea...

I actually was going to start on this project a year+ ago but just like life, stuff comes up.

Yes, the gas is expensive, but I'm in an RV so little or no outside the norm food expense and no motel expense. I would certainly welcome some sponsors.

BanK! BanK! You say BanK?

Kyle, Tough to play one pocket against a guy that makes those big off-angled long rail banks on a 10 foot table. You sir, just bank too-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o good. Thanks again for the hospitality. I had a great time!

My original route was going that way, but...they got too cold too fast. I'm headed for the warmth of the deep south.

Another five hour drive south from Shreveport, LA and you'll hit Buffalo Billiards in the suburbs of New Orleans at Metairie.

Come pass a good time bring plenty of memory for your cameras. We've got some sights to behold. :D

THAT is a sensational idea but I don't know how long they will let you keep the coffee table photo book online....

Wags - I haven't been there since the 90's but remember I think two tables there. I always thought it was a great spot against the roadies having the rack at the wrong end so to speak.

Thanks for the memory shot.

I'd buy the printed version. There's quite a few pics in the "Pool Halls from all over" thread that would make a nice addition. Being pool/billiard related it wouldn't sell millions of copies but high-quality pictures of tables like that one-pocket Brunswick and places from all corners of the world would garner some interest.
