Not to be too dumb, but how do these work, ie hold the cue?

Looks like you'd slip it over the tip and hang it on a hook maybe? I'd have my doubts. The cue would just be dangling from the wall.

I have some that are very similar to them, and yes they slip over the tip. There is a slit running up one side of mine, so they fit various diameters. I don't use them anymore, but I once use to keep a break cue with a warped shaft hanging from one. With the weight of the handle screwed to the shaft, It slightly helped with the warp over time from hanging, but the problem I had was after a hour of play the shaft would go right back where It was. If you have a need to hang a finished shaft, then they might be of use, but I usually make My own hangers that screw into the threads for that.
