could use some insight to this. i work 40 hrs a week or more. i get three days off.

with my three days i play all the pool i can. i do drills, play in a leauge. and play just for fun.. but i also work out, and do other things that grownups have to do and i dont always get time to do drill and all that good stuff.

my question is, how much should i play on my days off? when i drill and play in the same day i am in the hall 10 hours. is this two long? i do allow time for musle memory to set in, but is that to much for one day? should i split it up to a couple hours a day for the 3 that i am off?

thank you for you advise..

Not sure if there is such a thing as too much practice. I would just make sure I'm splitting up my time between drills, league and action.

Question

Are your days off all consecutive or not?

2-4 hours a day is plenty of practice. The rest of the time, play in competition (leagues), or for the fun of it. One thing though, learn from everything you do and from everyone you play.

This all comes down to how you feel. No one here can really tell you how long is too long.

When I am in the hall to practice and then play I will go and practice until I feel that I've had enough. After that I stop and order something to eat and sit around watching other ppl play, or watching tv. Usually after about an hour or so if I haven't started "playing" I might toss the balls back out on the table and start playing again.

If you're working out you know about getting out of it what you put into it. If your heart isn't in it you are getting negative returns on your time.

definitely sounds like too much. I'd recommend practicing a minimum amount while working on fundamentals, stopping when you become bored. This is key. After that, play however much you want (against people). Adam Smith told me a story about how when he was in college he didn't have time to practice and his game actually got better at that point (he no longer practices). I've shared a similar experience. once you have your fundamentals in order and you understand how the balls react I don't think practice is necessary other than to keep the coordination.

thank you for the input.. and i do have all my days off in a row. and leauge on tues. and i get wed and thurs off as well. on thurs i go and watch the top leauge play. watching and learning. but even then i wonder sometimes how they are shooting in the top spot...
