Only one I have heard is THE SOUTH DAKOTA KID
The Natural is a good description though , he should have to wear sandals around the poolroom

Seriously? I've always heard "The South Dakota Kid". But he's not a kid now, so maybe time for a change??

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, time for a change..... shane ( the natural ) van boening... sounds good when you say it. o and by the way, no charge!

I dunno if "the natural" really fits. SVB's practice ethic is legendary...

I was thinking the same thing....kinda like Ben Hogan "the Hawk", but his nickname didn't come from pounding millions of balls either.

Being nicknamed after a state is quite an honor.

As the saying goes, when playing for money, beware of those nicknamed after cities/states or animals.

:D

I think when you say 'the South Dakota Kid' everybody in the pool world
knows who you're talking about.

Justin Collett from TAR fondly calls him Def Leppard......
...but that is a liberty a good friend can take.

Personally, I feel when you say 'Earl'...you know 'Strickland' comes next.
So I'm good with calling him 'Shane'....just like the movie.

Ah yes, the WWE-inspired nickname gheyness continues...

That too. Pool has it's own traditions and styles for nicknaming players. Leave the bravado and crap for WWE. We have our own traditions.

Usually, pool does not use overtly threatening or intimidating nick names. Often, they are the complete opposite.

"The Pearl" ...how menacing is that! Yet, try and play Earl in his prime.

"Whimpy" ...haha. That's awesome. Again, good luck with that guy.

"Cool Cat" ...not exactly a nickname that will inspire fear, but watch as 200+ balls gets run on you.
