Hi guys/gals!

I am going to be uploading quite a few videos to the CSI YouTube site over the next few weeks/months. So make sure when you go there, you subscribe to the channel or at least bookmark/favorite it to make it easy to go to it again:smile: If you subscribe you can get notified as new videos are uploaded.

Today, in light of all the Danny H and John S and goat discussions lately, we have a video from the 35th Annual BCAPL National Championships held in Las Vegas last year. (this years is coming up quick, check out the details !) This is from the 14.1 (straight pool) event that was held during the Nationals. There were prizes given for the Hi-Run, the combined totals of 4 tries at runs, and then a tournament at the end. All in all, a great time held by all!

Danny won the Hi-Run portion of the event and also the combined score from 4 tries too. He can certainly play that straight pool:smile:

His run is not captured in it's entirety (unless I find more of it), but here is video of the last 9 racks or so, along with the shot that ended his run. You will not believe what a bad roll he got on that shot. No one looking at it, would give it much thought about what ended up happening. For those of you watching to the end, I also included a slo-mo replay of the shot that ended his run.

So check it out, see Danny run 150 or so balls. Look for much more video content to be uploaded to the CSI YouTube page! Subscribe/Bookmark/Favorite it!!! Over the next week or so, I will be uploading much more content from the 14.1 Hi-Run Challenge.

Remember, this event will be held again this year, so start practicing! Mark Griffin and Bob Jewett will probably be putting in the 20k they did last year for anyone that breaks Willie Mosconi's record of 526. Mark would like to get it up to about 100k for anyone that can break it !! For more information, go to www.playcsipool.com or call the CSI Offices at 702-719-7665

Here is a thread from this event, along with the results.

That is brutal but a lot of runs end this way.

The difference between Danny and myself, if I had that layout and only needed two balls for 100 or 200, I would have shot the two ducks. This just goes to show that hitting 200 wasn't that big of a deal for him. He played that scenario the same no matter if it was the 1st rack or the 15th.

Now that is one intense deliberate poolplayer right there.

Doesn't pull the trigger till he is absolutely ready.

Wow, thanks for the slow motion of scratch. That certainly helped to see that devil was in works to end Danny's run ;) ... did you hear the whispers?

Wow, seriously - that was AMAZING!

Can't thank you enough for doing this. Appreciate all the hard work and effort in bringing quality pool to us.

What I don't get, is why Danny hit that shot so hard? It wasn't like those balls grouped together needed some serious bustin' apart (i.e. at the speed he went into them with). If he hit it at normal speed, he still had insurance balls all over the place, to not only continue, but to use as additional break balls if he needed 'em.

But in any case, that was one meticulously picked-apart series of racks to form that nice 199!

Good going, Danny!

Thanks, Cali/Greg for getting this up. Hope you are doing well.

Sunny

thanks Sunny! Doing ok.. need to get some pc work though. Pool around here is reeeeeeall bad. Looks like it's crappy bar tables for me from now on. 9 ft'ers are a thing of the past. Oh well.. maybe I'll spend more time here. lol

thanks for the props! thanks to Andy Chen for running it and taping it and to Mark Griffin for getting it in his hands and allowing me to get my hands on it.

I don't know.. maybe he wanted to break the 1/9 up or something. He probably thought that with that wall of balls, he wasn't going anywhere with the cueball. The part I enjoyed was him getting out of line with the break shot, then he juices up the ball and is able to nick the pack, but the damn cueball goes up to the head rail and stops leaving him a tough shot on the 8 ball with a lot of pressure riding on it. I"m sure no straight pool player wants to have that shot when they got a run going.

So he makes a key shot on the 8 ball, gets back in line to continue his run, then a run of the mill shot ends his run right after he got back in line. Not only that.. the cueball hits 2 rails in the pocket it's going to scratch in. Brutal.

With working with a lot of straight pool footage over the past week or two, I"ve gained some new respect for these guys that can have a great run going, then it's usually a standard shot that they miss or they scratch, and they immediately get down to rack the balls and start all over. I think I would have a hard time doing that. Getting a good run going, then have to start all over. I'd be over there pizzing and moaning:smile:

Stay tuned for more footage!

I watched it all,,,great shooting. Brutal ending.

If you took BIH and tried to carom that cue into corner ,off them 2 balls,,,it would near impossible to make. Such a small touch on them both.

Cuz the 4, 5 and 6 had no pockets so probably was trying to move the 5. The ball speed seemed so hard cuz he barely grazed the 3 and the 5 balls, otherwise, the balls would have absorbed the energy.
