I have made a cue where the pilot on the joint was a close fit on the diameter and it shut out on both the collar face and on the end face of the spigot.
It was easy enough for me to create, I have had many years of fitting out injection moulding tools.
When I compared another shaft that only shut out on the collar I could not see any difference. It seemed the extra work of increasing the face area showed no improvement or advantage.
The resonance of the cue remained the same with either option.
What I found to be more important than the joint type was the amount of compression holding the 2 parts together.
