The scheduling is unfortunate oh, and another unfortunate thing is that who ever wins this Straight pool tournament won't go into the record books as a World Champion because it's not sanctioned by the WPA as a World Championship because it doesn't meet the money requirements.
And I am glad to see that I didn't see again in their post the longest running tournament because actually,
Barry Bermans U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships is the longest running tournament.

Dragon Promotions was trying to take a tournament that long ago bit the dust it seems, start it up using the same name and call their tournament the longest running, tournament.
When everyone knows it's the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship Barry's tournament that's the longest running.

Wonder if this scheduling by DP had anything to do with the APB listening to the TAR podcasts and their
feelings on the inadequacy (of APB) as a group to lead the professional players? (or anybody for that matter)

The APB, I trying to remember the last time I saw something new or exciting they had in the works for the pros,
the last thing I can remember them doing was the failed boycott and that was a long, long time ago.

Really?------> Hopefully I missed something?-----> If not that's just SAD

Failed boycott? i was under impression it was quite successful.
50+ top name pros said they werent going unless Barry put the money up in advance. Barry put it up $ with BCA.
Players came. Thus first US Open in almost 10 years where no player got stiffed or had to wait 1 yr to get paid.

Barry even told people he was glad the players forced him to do the right thing and this year he is going to put more $ up in advance.

Do you happen to have where he said that handy? (the part about where he was glad the players forced him to do the right thing)

Thanks

Some of the Pros on the APB member list didn't even know they were on a list of APB members. So I hope you aren't counting any of them in 50+
whatever number your talking about!

The All Japan Championship is older; I think 2012 will be the 45th year.

Sorry I was talking about in the U.S. where both the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships and the Straight Pool tournament that Charlie tries to call a World Championship (that's why the WPA put out a release last year to let people know it was not sanctioned) are both held.

I didn't make that clear sorry, the whole idea was that Barry's tournament has been running longer than the tournament that Charlie restarted after a number of years being defunct then trying to say it was longer running than Barrys. Which was totally bullsh*t, there I think I've stated it clearer now.
