Road trip through CT/MA/NH areas: pool halls?

Road trip through CT/MA/NH/ME areas: pool halls?

Folks:

Starting later next week, I'll be on a road trip (for work) doing major IT enterprise-network migrations for a large trucking firm in the Northeast, specifically the CT/MA/NH areas. The schedule will look like this:

10 Aug 2012: Wilmington, MA
14 Aug 2012: Shrewsbury, MA
16 Aug 2012: Lewiston, ME <-- Edited
29 Aug 2012: Wallingford, CT
5 Sep 2012: Concord, NH
6 Sep 2012: Stoughton, MA

In the evenings, I hope to free-up to at least hit some balls.

Question: what pool halls in these areas would you folks recommend?

Also, if any AZBers are in these areas (or close by), I'd welcome the opportunity to hit some balls together!

EDIT: I was just advised by the customer, that he'd given me a typo in the schedule -- there is no "Lewiston, Massachusetts." Rather, the Lewiston site is in MAINE. The list above shows the correction.

If you're going to be in Wallingford, CT it will be easy to stop by Yale Billiards, they're right in Wallingford. They've got about 15 9' Gold Crowns. One table up front is shimmed and plays pretty tight, table 4 I believe.

I played their the most when I lived in the area.
 
Yale Billiards in Wallingford is a nice room.

If you are in Stoughton,MA check out Stix and Stones in Abington next town over 10 GC 4s tuesday and Thursday Tourneys

Westgate Lanes in Brockton, MA is a nice room 20 GC 3s right off Rt 24 also next town over from Stoughton
 
Don't know what days those are but..

Wed in Snookers RI is a 9-ball tournament, usually gets around 30-40 people, many B,A, Open players, Mike Dechaine plays in that sometimes. Starts at 6:30 shortish races to 3,4,5 handicapped.

Tue in Ayer, MA in The Billiards Cafe at 7:00 is a 9/8 ball tournament, alternates weekly. Races to 2 or 3 on losers and 3 or 4 on winners depending on how many people play. Usually about 10-18 players. Lower skill on average than Snookers. You can play till 11ish if you get knocked out, very nice place, the owner takes care of the equipment and players. He even bought a new Diamond Pro 7' table so the league players can play on that size for practice for any national tournaments that use them.

In Clinton, MA is Break-Away, has nice tables but crappy ball sets. Free pool all day and night Tue, Wed and Th.

If your hitting Concord NH you should take the opportunity to meet Ken Tewksbury he runs a pool school out of a private facility. He is a great guy with a whole lot of knowledge to share. He is an older gentlemen but very interesting to meet and talk to. People come from all over the world to study with him. I am not sure if there are any pool halls left in Concord.

LOL...I just recently bought a house in Shrewsbury but I am usually staying around Boston the beginning of each week (Sun-Wed).

I still don't know what's around here for pool.

Just FYI, I was just informed by my customer that the list of sites and dates he gave me has a typo in it. There is no "Lewiston, Massachusetts" -- that site is actually in MAINE. He meant to type "ME" instead of "MA".

Anyway, the list above has been corrected.

That place has horrible tables, almost all are too fast, rails are installed badly, pockets are cut badly. The sad thing is that they re-clothed and were going to replace the rails. But from how they play, does not really seem like the rails were replaced. Don't know who they used for the setup, but the manager there was given lots of good names to use, which he did not. I only go there for the free play during league practice nights with some friends.

London Billiards is also in Worcester, has some nice tables in the back. It's not as nice as Jillian's as far as the building, but the tables are much better. Clinton, Ayer and RI are not too far away, I usually take the 45 min drive to play in those places.
 
Rack'em Up Billiards, Auburn, ME. Just across the river from Lewiston. Sister cities, actually....

As soon as I can confirm that my 9-ball team will have enough coverage that night, I'll commit to meeting you there! I'm already planning on it, just allowing for the freak instance where we wouldn't have enough people to field a full team. Rare occurance. Hell, even if that is the case, I can always play first, and still get down there if need be. Only 90 minutes or so, depending on the lead in leadfoot.

Very, very cool. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks, I haven't been there in a few years, and it was decent when I was there. Is London Billiards in an old brick building? I think I've been there berfore to play APA.

Well, just as with anything in I.T., of course the customer calls me up at the beginning of last week -- with little notice -- and wanted the first two sites completed by the end of the week.

So last week (Wednesday - Friday), I was at the Wilmington and Shrewsbury sites working 16-hour days, trying to get them done. No time in the evenings for pool at all -- just enough time to go get something to eat, get back to the hotel room for some sleep, only to rise and start it all over again.

The rest of the sites, starting with the Lewiston (Maine) site as the next one in line, is scheduled for October.

I'll post a new schedule when I know it, and hopefully this time I'll have time in the evenings to meet some AZBers and some pool!
