Instroke case problem

I just got a used 2x4 and its a pain to get the shafts out, anybody got a fix for this before I start trying. The shafts tube are quite lower then the butt tubes, I was thinking of putting something in the bottom of the tube. Which brings me to another problem , lots of chalk dust in the tube, like to figure a way to clean them. Any help here would be great. Thanks Mike

Years ago I got some coils that I wraped in cloth. Shafts would spring up. Worked great. Low tech cloth or paper plug will keep them from going to far. Crude but effective.

You can carefully pull out the little nails holding the case bottom in place. Then you can clean out the bottom and maybe blow high pressure air through the tubes. In the future, just swirl your tip on the carpet before putting it back in your case. That'll cut down on 99% of the chalk in your case.

To raise the height of your shafts in your case, wad up little pieces of paper and drop down the hole. Tamp them down with your shaft. You may have to add quite a few little wads of paper, but you'll eventually get your desired height.

I'd suggest just using joint protectors on your shafts, which would make them longer..possibly long enough to avoid jamming stuff in the bottom of your tubes.

I was thinking a spring like the j&j have in them. Just got to figure out how to do it.

I can tell you the solution and its reversible. Will edit later when I am home.

Here you go. This is a video I did for a customer a while back and for his case we included some spacers that are easy to install and easy to remove.

If you want to skip all the awesome description of the true custom case we did for Tom then you can skip ahead to the spacers at 3:00.

I have the same case and I have a piece of 9/16 diameter and just over 1 1/2 inch long piece of G-10 material in each of my shaft tube. You can use a piece of garden hose too. If you use a piece of G-10 or phenolic, make sure you chamfer the edges to make it easy to come out if ever needed.

I use marbles! The ones you played with as a kid! Drop them down the tubes, & flip the case upside down, to remove them. Easy, cheap solution.

It must have been your old case I got...... I took a case in on trade once and I swear it had a pound of marbles in it. I used to love to sit at my desk and play pool with them.

:-)

Well I went to the true value and got 2 2 1/2 springs and 4 corks , cut the springs in half, and push them in, cleaned the shafts hole with a 3/32 piece of tig welding wire bent to a loop at the end and I small wet cloth and a drill. I think my problem is solved. Thanks guys

I use an instroke case, and I would definately have the same problem if I didn't have joint protectors.
