Solid Antique White Irish Linen

Hello,

I hope that someone will have some advice on this linen. The problem is black streaks appearing in parts of the wrap. This is before pressing or anything else, it looks like dirty strands are woven into the linen.

Maybe I had a bad single wrap spool. I have another one left but hate to have the same problem. Can the linen be bleached or anything after it is installed?

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Howdy,
Sounds like you got some bad cordage. Probably best to take that up with your supplier.
Were your hands clean when you applied the linen?
I can't offer much in the way of help for what you've currently got but maybe for future reference.
You stated that you haven't pressed it yet so this may not apply here but it will eventually.
Each and every time you wrap a cue, wash your presser, roller and anything else that comes in contact
with the linen when you're done.
The cordage is dyed and that dye transfers to your rollers, presser, etc.
EX: if you do, say, a solid black and don't wash the equipment, then do, say, a Wh w/grn speck, you won't like it.
The black dye will transfer to your white and you're screwed. Now you get to do it again.

Thanks for the reply KJ. I took my press apart and gave it a good
cleaning plus cleaned all my tools and covered the lathe bed with a clean
white towel and my hands were clean. It looks like there were some bad strands in the linen. Not much fun when it was 3/4 from the start before it looked
ugly. I have another spool left so I will try it agian this weekend.

Thanks
