World Rankings

Why are there so few snooker players? And why do old players like Rex Williams and Willie Thorne still have a world ranking?

I dunno but I cant see Sexy Rexy as Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins would call him currently ranked at World Number 163 making a comeback at the age of 79

I can't see Willie Thorne currently ranked world Number 156 giving up the commentator gig and making a comeback at the age of 58 just a few years off from a pension

There are a lot of head scratchers in the World Rankings List.:rolleyes::wink:

The list effectively starts at #97, Thaiger, with the Iranian rookie, Ayouri.
...zero points after that.
Interesting for me to see Graham Miles' name, the man who played by ear.
..and Bill Oliver, who played with a pear-wood cue.

Here's a nice blog on this subject...

Currently ranked World Number, 112 it's Geoff Foulds :

Geoff Foulds head to head record leaves a lot to be desired :

Ranked 1 place below in the rankings it's his son Neil Foulds and I can't see Neil Foulds giving up his Eurosports commentator gig or his Ladbrokes bookies hotseat for a comeback.I have stood in Ladbroke's betting shops listening to Neil Foulds betting advice and he put me onto some Snooker winners but he tips Cricket,Horses,Greyhounds etc and I just think yeah right Neil just stick to Snooker.:p:D

So the Fouldsies inclusion is a head scratcher but it will all change for the better when the style it on the golf rankings. It will take a little time.
