Pool Match Posters

I'd made a few pool match posters diagramming the shots of one of the racks. They're not exactly 'Dogs Playing Pool' but pretty unique and look really great printed poster size. Here's links to a couple classics, Sigel/Zuglan 1992 US Open 14.1 150 and Out & Reyes/Strickland $100,000 Color of Money match 1996 Hong Kong.

You can download these links and have them printed poster size some place like Walgreens for $20 or less. These are meant to be printed 20"x30" @300dpi. They're suitable for framing and may be just what you need to dress up your game room walls.

PM if you're interested in a custom poster, you can even immortalize one of your own matches you happened to video.

Enjoy,
Steve

"The Shot", would be cool.

Efren Reyes vs Earl Strickland, 1995 Sands Regency Open XXI.

The Shot is a very cool shot indeed however, I am thinking about a poster that will help people play better pool by giving them an idea of where they can hit the cue ball and make it do different things. Telling someone doesn't always work. Some of us are visual people and need the images to "get it".

I have already been working on a couple of layouts and am not sure I have it the way I want it.

I have been thinking that to scale is the way to go but I'm not even sure about that. Anyway, I have a couple of balls drawn to detail with cue tips applied showing the miscue area.

Still wondering if I should rely on the honor and generosity of the people who make the downloads or to sell them outright. I don't really have a lot of time to sell the posters and they might not even sell at all. My target audience is probably the public pool rooms and maybe a few fat cats that have their own personal pool room.

The images I have created so far are vector images so I can size them any way that I choose. I'm not capable at the moment of drawing three dimensional objects like a cue ball, showing where a tip meets the miscue limit line. I can draw 2 dimensional objects and set type but I don't have any 3 D experience.

Anyway, I appreciate the ideas.

Again, keep in mind that I am doing this primarily to give back to the pool community, first and possibly help the Wounded Warrior's Project secondly. I don't want to make this a full time business or even a part-time business. It's really just a labor of love.

If anyone wants to share additional ideas offline, PM me and I will be in touch.

Thanks,

Very cool indeed!

What's the best procedure (for quality) I would use to get these printed at Walgreens, Walmart, etc.?

Right click the image and "Save image as..." a .jpg to a thumb drive, then take the thumb drive to the store?

Yep. Drive to Walgreens (wherever) with the original jpg on a thumb drive and load it there. If you try to upload it to their on-line photo site the jpg gets compressed/decompressed and loses a lot of detail. Look closely at the print, the lines should be very clear (no blurring) if it's done right. Have them reprint until you're happy. BTW, Walgreens frequently runs specials on photo printing, so if you're patient you can get it done about 1/2 regular price.

Wherever? :)
I just came from picking up some duplicate photographs scanned from some 60 year old negatives of my grand father and Uncle and Lakeside Camera charges $56.00 for a 20" x 24"/30" poster photo print. Yikes!

Thanks for the tips.
