hello, fellow AZ family, was wondering if anyone has ever done such a thing before, like post a cue VS. cue type contest, dont know the details, but say Fred Jones has a Southwest Cue and Barney Ruble has a Dishaw cue, put both pics and specs up and then the forum would vote on which cue they would prefer?

and suggestions and or opinions would be great

ps........ another thought would be to compare cues that seem to be a toss up like a predator sneaky VS an OB cue?... thoughts
 
I had this idea too but different than yours. I was thinking 2 guus with different cues but same tier meeting up, switch the cues and play for an hour. Than post a cross review. Everyone here has a "monster player" even me:)). Let's see if it is true.
It will also be fun meeting and shooting with fellow azer's.

that would be cool, but hell there is thousand of members on here, that would be more local? dont you think, this would just be a cue battle in the trenches so to speak, that is a good idea thought, would love to shoot with multiple cues, of course if you miss cue you might lose you head
 
It might be a great idea, but it's definitely in the wrong forum. Please ask one of the moderators to move the thread to either the cue and case gallery or the main forum. You *must* have something for sale to create a thread in this forum.

I am going to say that this sounds like a cool thing but in practice it leads to people getting bent out of shape.

There is a website that was devoted to this type of thing in a way, www.cuezilla.com and it devolved into some people getting really hot at each other over some of the comments. To the point where Barry Szamboti even skipped going to the Super Billiards Expo which was held in his hometown. I mean when a cue maker feels so put out that he won't even go to have a good time with his colleagues then the goal of sharing and discussing cue art is shattered.

Just look at the Cue of the Year and Case of the Year polls, never without some controversy and someone getting upset.

Comparison and forums seems like a bad mix. :-)

So right John...that;s why shooting seems better for me. I mean I don;t care how it looks if it shoots like a champ...right? And who is the one to decide other than the end user...the player itself...IMO
 
A guy who used to post here a lot FtGokie, Shawn, did a pretty cool cue maker challenge. He had five cue makers build plain janes and then sent them around the country to have people evaluate them without knowing who built which ones.

The whole project took a while but at the end I think it was quite a lot of fun for everyone involved.

The thing about cues is that there is such a wide spectrum that no one can ever say that any cue is the best or even really "better" than another one with authority. No matter what cue maker you choose you can almost always find flawed examples or someone who was unhappy with the performance.

Now of course this isn't to say that a K-mart cue is equal to a Gina. But it is to say that personal subjectivity is so strong that there are people out there who play pretty sporty with K-mart cues and would swear that a Gina isn't any better.

Still I like the idea of battle of the cues but I see only hurt egos happening.

ok, that is a cool site, im gonna check it out, just thought it might be fun, but i can see attitudes coming ALIVE, as well, i was thinking more on the lines of putting certain cues together to do battle kind of like this:

Cue Battle #1

Predator Roadline sp6gl ( list all specs and retail price )

VS

....... say a Pechauer Cue P07 ( list all specs with shaft and tip, ect)

may be to much work, lol
 
Something I think would be really cool is to get some of the custom cue makers on here to make a cue each that is the same basic idea and match them up against each other
