Cue Straightness

Question: When in the market for a used cue, how much, if any, wobble would you deem allowable? Also, which part( butt or shaft) would be more critical to your purchase decision?

I only care about the butt being straight when buying a production cue. Shafts on production cues are easy to replace.

if it has any wobble over maybe 1/16th of an inch that's too much for me.

I did learn of a 'trick' though to help straighten my sneaky pete shaft. Got a paper towel with hot water and rubbed it on the shaft then hung the shaft attached to the butt in my closest and let gravity do the rest.

I rubbed it with a warm paper towel daily and let it hang for about 2 weeks. Worked great for me it's pretty much completely straight now.

Do you dry off the shaft after rubbing? Or let it be moist before hanging it?

Leave it moist. The water evaporates by the next day and I reapply with a hot paper towel.
