Should I make a pool guide for bar players?

Which shaft will make me play better?

I'm going to let you in on a secret that a retired pro once shared with me.

For every player, there is but one shaft that will allow them to achieve their full potential. This is properly referred to as "the" shaft. Some players find "the" shaft early on and become legends. Others spend a lifetime looking for "the" shaft and never find it. Finding "the" shaft is what separates the truly great players from the also-rans. However you can't just buy "the" shaft; it must be gifted to you by another pool player.

You should always keep your eye out for "the" shaft. You never know where or when it will turn up, if it ever does.

The best way to do this is to go up to everyone you meet and say, "Can you give me the shaft?"

Good luck to you on your quest.

The content you're proposing seems much more appropriate for a blog, rather than a book. IMHO.

Still waiting anxiously for a few nuggets I requested... why not give us a lil something something that will leave us wanting more......

And thus we will know if you have the adequate and sufficient skills to publish a book on the subject... now surely, if you cannot even share 2 or 3 nuggests here, how do you plan on filling a book ??

As I said, I'm not sure when or if I'm going to write it. I definitely won't have enough time for a few more months. I just wanted to hear your opinion in case I decide to do it. Its gonna be like a collection of all my personal experiences in pool, together with some strategy and playing debates and thoughts. I'll talk about how I first started playing pool with a few of my friends, describe the bar and the people we encountered there regularly. The whole story will revolve around pool and the matches I played, how I progressed as a player, how I started playing in other bars in my city as well, the new, better players I watched and played there etc. Special attention will be given to my playing style, as well as the playing style of other players I played with. There could really be a lot of things to write about. If I write it of course

Sounds like something any of us can do, I'll do it about the bagels I have eaten. How I started eating them, where I ate them, with who I ate them, sometimes I would drop them, or I'd be out of cream cheese, or had to debate what flavor to get. At times I'll find really good bagels, they were larger and had more flavor and made the Thomas's Bagels seem like D players. Not THOSE bagels had it goin' on! I usually eat them with my right hand, the same hand I'll apply the topping to. Depending on the bagel and topping I'd have to pick out a plate size so they don't fall off the edge. Then you want to wait a bit after toasting before applying the butter or cream cheese or jam, sometimes a combination of the two. Toasting procedure is important, cut side down or up? Toaster oven or regular toaster? Cut and toast or toast whole and then cut? It was all a wild ride, but got me to where I am now. I hope I taught you something here.

Well, as you can see, it's OK o write about something, as long as there are not 10,000,000 people doing the exact same thing as you the exact same way. Does anyone really care about how I eat bagels. Do you think anyone will be interested in your matches? It's easy to just write what happens to you every day, but why? If you scratch your nose before each shot, what would that mean to anyone else? And why do we need to know?

As someone else said, start a blog or post on facebook, those are the places for people that want to update others on their daily routines.

So that's a no then, correct.

You cannot share even on interesting detail about your "pool life".... me thinks there is not much to write about. Go read Freddy the Beards books, and then come back and see if you think you are in the right ball park, or just standing in the parking lot without a ticket .... good luck

Maybe you got me wrong. I'm not gonna describe every detail in my pool life. After all, I want that book primarily to be something new players can learn a lot from. It's going to be filled with examples from my life and my personal thoughts, but it will still be concentrated on the way you need to play your game. I chose to include my personal life part as it's quite similar to how most other players start their "pool careers". I think it will be easier for them to apply it in their own pool life that way.

Well, then share something already... I mean, you son't have one single tidbit to share with the entire AZ community. Is not that the point of starting a friggin thread.... share something or get off the pot already. geez:confused:

But I already told you what it will be about in short. I can't just give away one detail, it would make little sense without the rest of the text. I can tell you some of the stories if you want me to, but they will fit in much better in a logical succession.

To the OP: Do what you want, you're gonna anyway.

To everyone else: Is it just me, or does this kinda seem like that guy talking about those "Ghosts of the Megalodon" shafts? They were gonna be the best thing since sliced bread. He'd never stopped talking about it, but nothing ever came of it. Well, I'm assuming nothing came of it cuz he finally went away and I haven't heard anything about the shaft since.

I said I don't know what or if I'm going to do anything at all, no need to get mad about it. Some people here said they'd like to read it, some advised me not to write it, so I'll have to make a decision myself.
