schuler to schon shaft insert

would like to convert a schuler shaft to use with a schon. the schuler
shaft fits the schon, the only difference is the piloted portion of the shaft.
schuler roughly 7/16" diameter and schon roughly 1/2" diameter. so does extra 1/16" of play matter. and would it be better to remove the schuler insert and install a schon? or construct some sort of fitting to slip over the piloted portion of the shuler cue thereby adding the 1/16" difference?

I would worry more about the shaft sitting flat on the joint,
1-Schuler inserts usually stick out a bit.
2- Most Schuler cues I have seen at approximately .870 at the joint, where Schon's are approximately .838
