Spots on tables

Mine are for a couple of aiming workouts I do.

This way I don't need to look at where to set things up each time.

There are used for drills.

It allows you to place the balls over and over again on the same spots.
 
Yeah, the little stick-on reinforcers you put on paper so the holes won't tear out are perfect for this, and dirt cheap. I always have some in my pool supply drawer.
 
Drills

I concur with using spots for drills/practice. Rather than a napkin, half napkin as practice for playing excellent position, oftentimes people will use spots for a much greater challenge as it's much smaller. I've also seen them used for speed control (which ties into playing position) but also for stroke practice. Lastly, to keep track of the CB placement for practicing breaks.
