Pros and normal jobs

Good thread.. In my area I've noticed that several of the best local tournament winners are guys who are hungry - putting food on the table with pool or at least significantly augmenting their income with pool. The relevant factor being that, at least for these players, not having a true career is part of the motivation.

You and all your cronies have, shall we say, earthy minds.

Mizerak, of course, also made a dandy living with Miller Lite, both for the seven commercials in which he appeared and his many personal appearances as one of the Miller Lite All-Stars.

And let's pay one final tribute to the original question asked: Hall of Fame player Art Cranfield, who spent most of his career as a VP with the Muzak Music Corporation. (That outfit is principally responsible for the reprehensible elevator music, but let's not hold that against Cranfield.) GF

I met Miz in line at Arby's at the Sands in 85 or 86, we started talking, and sat down together and ate and talked for about a hour. I asked him what was his best $$ making biz, he said the K-Mart deal "It was a real sweetie!!!" his eyes got real big. He explaned to me he got a piece of the action on every sale. It wasnt just a flat fee for the use of his likeness. He said that they negotiated the deal that way in the beginning, K-Mart didnt expect the volume to be has high as it was-neither did Miz. He created his own luck. Had he just got a "Flat Fee" for the endorsement he would have left lots of $$ on the table. I remember that conversation very well, and took it to heart. I wanted to know how he made his $$$ and success. He was glad to share it-I was lucky, I created my own luck striking up that conversation.
