Outsville Ki-Tech Single Layered Tips

I had the "Hard" Ki-Tech put on my player this week. I've put about 10 hours on it and it's THE single crispest hit I've ever felt.

I really love a hard tip and this one does the trick and more. I'm in love with the feel and the sound. I'd honestly say that it's probably not for the faint of heart or softy-lovers out there, but if you want a nice "click" and a harder tip, you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl.

Chris did me a favor on these and they turned out EXACTLY as I had hoped. I won't divulge what that favor was, but I do appreciate it.

I had 4 friends try it out. The first guy is my cue-maker and he actually installed the tip for me. He seems to like soft-to-medium stuff, so he said it was too much for him. No biggie. It's all about personal preference.

One guy hit about a rack's worth and said it felt great.

The other 2 guys really like hard tips. They tried them independently, on different days and in different rooms. Neither guy was there when the other tried it. After the 1ST hit, both said the EXACT SAME thing. They gave it a whack. Stopped. Stared at the tip and said, "There ain't a DAMN thing wrong with how THAT thing feels!"

I've already got one other player getting a Hard one put on his player as we speak.

Excellent job, Renfro! I'll be ordering more for all my other playing shafts.

The hard is a double processed vegetable tanned cow hide tip.... It's constructed at high temps and pressures than the soft or medium so it pulls in enough elastomer/hardener to still have some bounce in it when it gets cranked down during the pressing process.... Having the added material in it means that you may experience some slight glazing over time if you aren't in the habit of chalking every shot... It's a function of the top getting burnished from there not being enough abrasives between the tip and ball... I currently just use a spare piece of sandpaper if/when it happens but if you go the route of a tip pick you should be fine since you don't have to worry about layers delaminating ever again :thumbup:........

I chalk meticulously after every shot, plus, I like to give my tips a quick pick or scuff every few weeks (or as needed), so I'm hoping I don't have a glazing issue.

I always "Kamui up" before a session and then use oven-baked Master's chalk (not kidding) during actual play.

I've miscued twice with this tip. Once was because I was playing on an AMF table with cheap plastic pockets that had the lip sticking out much further than it should have been on a quality table/set-up. I was in a weird spot and actually grazed the edge of the pocket's lip on my stroke, which deflected my tip and, of course, caused me to miscue badly.

The other time I just wanted to see how low I could go and ended up scooping it. Funny thing is....still made the shot and got perfect shape. Lol.

Otherwise, no issues so far.

I am getting close to having my chalk formula finished... You will be able to "Outsville up" that way before too long I hope... Still have a few pieces of equipment to buy even after I get it where I want to be able to produce in mass....

I have had several players already using the hard from the samplers on break cues so I decided to stick my finger back in the cake mix and make something designed around a break tip....

IF you ARE NOT using a Samsara I have a G10 hybrid going thru R&D that should be ready in the next month or 2.... So you may want to hold off on posting about the leather 1 as I likely won't send both freebies to a single person....

I've played in 3 tournaments since I had a Ki-Tech "hard" installed on my player.

The first 2 tourneys, I proceeded to go 2 and out. I actually shot pretty decent overall, but didn't execute well enough when it counted.

I just played in my 3rd tournament last night, on the best equipment I've played on since the Southern Classic in Tunica.....not to mention getting more table time in with the new player cue set-up.......and got 2nd place. I was double-dipping my opponent, at hill-hill, on the 8B for the victory......and dogged it. :mad: Just absolutely choked. But, that's on me.

As is, the Ki-Tech feels GREAT. Thanks again to Renfro for creating a great tip. It just feels exactly like what I've been looking for.

I'll probably be ordering another 10 or so, at some point, to cover all my player cues, back-up shafts.....as well as my best friend's stuff. He's sold on the "hard" one, as well. Not to mention, I'm going to make sure I have a couple left over to throw in the pool toolbox, in case of emergency or the future, in case I ever wear this bad boy out.

If you haven't tried one yet, you owe it to yourself to give Ki-Tech tips a shot. Literally. :thumbup:


P.S. This is the first tip I've ever had that has a sound that's truly music to my ears. It just makes a pleasant lil "click/plink". Everytime I get down to shoot, it's like my ears perk up in anticipation for that sound. That might seem crazy, but it really sounds/feels that great.

I believe the cue tip that OP sent me is gone. It didn't reach me. Sadly, its too expensive to ship direct to Asia. Can't get that chance to try out this awesome tip. :(

Yuppers I still have it.... If this set doesn't arrive we may have to look at a shipper... You setup up an account and order things over a few weeks and they bundle and ship it all... Dunno what else you might be in the market for but a Beard book a Geno DVD and Brett DVD might be thoughts.....

These tips are great. It's nice to have a one piece tip that plays like a layered tip and doesn't require constant maintenance. I tried a soft and it plays better than any other soft I've tried including Kamui SS. The only thing I didn't like was the problem with burnishing the sides because of the tough fibers that don't polish. I solved that problem by using black magic marker on the sides and then burnishing. Now it looks like a Kamui SS.....Steve

Glad the softs have caught your fancy.... I was a die hard "hard" tip aficionado and I have been using the soft on my player for the last 6 months with no thought of going back =) Just took a durometer reading and it has moved 2 point since the day I had it put on... "Better cueing thru modern chemistry"

Funny thing is that while the mediums have the best reviews and overall appeal I am having the hardest time keeping the softs in stock which means the guys that like softs see something in them as I am getting consistent repeat orders on them....

Break tips are SOOOOON... I keep changing the ratios trying to create a tip as close to as hard as phenolic as I can go with a bite like a pool player who just went 2 and out halfway across the country from home........

No clue what your current tip is but I usually tell everyone to start with the soft and work up thru the sampler if they feel like they are not getting enough travel out of the tip... All 3 grades spin the ball and move it well but the travel distance is different... If you are coming up short all the time with soft move to the medium... You are trading a bit of spin for a bit of travel on each tip.....

I just finished tied for 13th, and in the money, out of 56 players in a tourney this past weekend. The only two losses for me came from 10-speed Master players, which are tops in our statewide league. I played really well all day long and more than held my own by soundly defeating 3 players rated ahead of me. Really took one off of a lower ranked player.

I voluntarily moved myself up a skill level after I was eliminated, because I can feel my game has elevated in the past couple of months and I want to keep the pressure on myself.

Still lovin' these Ki-Techs and going to add them to all of my back-up shafts and player cues.

Thanks. Looking foward to checking them out. Getting back in stroke and I just bought a Schon with who knows what kind of tip it has. Needs a new one. Same with my joss SP

Kane has zero interest in the hard so I allowed him to do 2 soft and a medium... You need to let me know in a PM if this is something you want otherwise 1s 1m 1h will show up.....
