Extended rail vs shimmed pocket and ball reaction

i am ignorant to the mechanics of a pool table
ive considered changing my shimmed pocket gc1 to an extended rail pocket
ive talked to mark many times and havent pulled the trigger yet(thanks for your patience)
someone told me that when a ball "jaws" on a shimmed pocket it tends to leave the area but on an extended rail pocket it tends to stay near the pocket
any truth to that?
is there a difference on how the ball will react?

Depends on who does the shims...they tend to be dead sometimes, thus jawing some firmer shots. Extended rails are the better route for truer play.

No when you use shims on the ends of the rail it causes the ball to die in the opening and stay there.
Extended rails play as a normal table would play....just tighter pockets.
But...depending on how the work is done on the rails....will determine how the pockets will accept or reject the balls.
