Mosconi Cup schedule

Going to the Mosconi Cup this year for the first time :). Super excited for the opportunity. We're trying to figure out how much down time we'll have during the week.

According to my tickets, matches start at 11:00 each day. For you veterans, how long does match play typically last each day? I'm thinking around 4 hours but have no idea if that's correct. Thanks.

5 matches per day. Each averages @ an hour. @ a 15 break between each? IIRC, each day ends @ 6pm local time.

There is a four to five hours air time. Matches are race to 6 only, so they're pretty quick. The usual schedule is 11 to 4pm, sometimes it overruns to 4:30 or 5pm, never more.

The Mirage is located right in the center of the strip so you'll be able to be anywhere by 6 for sure.

Do they start at 11 o'clock in the morning? Or at 23?
Just want to calculate what it means in my country, guess there are 7-8 hours later here in Europe...
Thanks!

Last year all were races to 5, not 6. They didn't change it, did they JP? I hope they did actually, but doubt it. No mention of it when they announced the break rule changes. Lag for break, alternate break.

1st match is at 11 am PST. Not "23" mristea.

Why did they schedule all 4 days on weekdays? Why not end it on weekend and attract bigger audience and TV viewership?

They switched it this year. Used to be Thur - Sunday. Not sure why, but you can be sure Matchroom believes it will make them more money.

So while the american 9-5 working stiffs will take the pipe, Europe which is 5-6 hours ahead, will view much of it in prime time and it won't be competing against weekend sports.

Will there be vendors or anything at the event? I'd like to look at some cool cues if possible :)

There weren't any last Cup in Vegas. None, nada.

You know that saying: "I went to Vegas and all I got was this stupid T-Shirt (and the clap)"? Couldn't even get a stupid T-Shirt last Cup.

However, Matchroom, per Twheels said they were trying to get some together for this Cup.

It's always been a base of race to 6, arranged to race to 5 when things were getting slow. I believe last year was the only one that featured race to 5 all the way.

In 2011 it was race to 6 all the way

I believe it is a race to 6 this year, but as usual if things get slow somehow with the new break etc... It might switch to a race to 5 again.

Does that make any sense?

They switched last year. And it was a success for the producer, Sky Sports. Which is the main target, hence the timing in the US.

So it will start at 11am which is 7pm (or 19:00 for us Europeans) in the UK and 8pm in central Europe.

I forgot they switched last year, thanks. And your prior post, I had a hieroglyphics expert assist, and it now makes sense. :grin-square:
