HELP! what pin size is this?

Does any one know what size pin this is on the cue on the left? I placed a 3/8x10 standard McDermott cue next to it to help. Its off a APA sponsored cue but its surely not 5/16x18 as most APA sponsored cues are. THX

i believe those APA cues were made by cuetec,more than likely it is metric,i think it is 9mm x 14.try a cuetec shaft and see if it screws on.
 
Na guys I don't think it is 5/16 x 14, we tried a 5/16 x 18 and it did not work at all. This pin is the same thickness as the 3/8 X 10.
 
Maybe a little off-track but what would the purpose be of you knowing this pin size?
Chances are that it's the CueTec pin which is .360"x14, not 3/8x14.
Are you wanting a shaft made? If so, call Seyberts. I make these shafts every week.
Tell them that you want the CueTec #2 for matching ring-work.

No such thing as a 9mm x 14. Metric threads are listed by M9, which is 9mm overall diameter and thread pitch is distance measured crest to crest of adjacent thread, 9 x 1.5, or M9 x 1 for example.

If we were talking metric nuts and bolts then you'd be correct.
They have to meet universal stds with regards to size and fit.
Bastard cue connection-pin threads, not so much.
I invite you to put thread gage and calipers to a CueTec pin and tell us what you find.
While some will state it's 9mm (.354") actually, it's closer to .360".
It is in fact 14 tpi.

This is not the only example of a 'marriage' if you will, btwn SAE and Metric.
I recently discovered why I was having difficulty with a particular import insert.
At first glance it appears to be a typical 12mm x 1.75mm on the OD threads.
After drilling/tapping the hole, in 'dry-fit' the insert would get about 1/2 way into the hole and stop.
I knew there was a problem and resolved myself to find it or risk splitting the shaft.
Calipers confirmed the dia to be 12mm (.472") The thread gage revealed that the pitch is in fact 14 tpi.
The difference btwn 1.75mm threads and 14 tpi is only a few thou.
Do the math and you'll see what I mean.

Why the weird combinations of metric and SAE in these pins/inserts, I have no idea.
They do exist and they are somewhat common. Too bad the tooling isn't.
For those who are creative in their solutions, there are work-arounds.
I sell modified taps for both applications.

Sure, I agree with all that, just stating to a previous poster that a reference to something like an M9 x 14 is incorrect, and why. I too have seen some very weird threads,,,,,,,,,maybe we should do a new thread (no pun) about, well, new threads?
 
3/8X14 is way to big the pin will be so loose it could strip out the soft insert in the shaft.
That tap will need to be ground to the proper size to work.
I had some taps made years ago for the Cue Tec paid about $100.00 each.
One plug and one bottom tap.
Still some of the best money I spent.
