Mosconi Cup Predictions, after first day

So what do we think the final score will be after the 5-0 start for the Euros?

While I'd love to wave the US flag and go rhah rhah rhah!, I don't see the US getting much traction and being able to catch up.

My prediction at this point: 11-7 Euro.

And I think I may be a bit generous but I think the break layouts and the kicking balls in that the Euro side had the first day will even out over the next few days a bit more. I would not be very surprised of the US lost 11-5, and wold be pretty damn shocked if they actually come back to win it.

I do think that 2001 will still stand as the most lop-sided one in history for a while though. Funny part is that from 12 years ago, 5 of the players on this 2001 team are still representing their side this year. That shows that there is not much new talent coming into the game that can handle the pressure or be popular enough to get in the teams.

Yeah its difficult to imagine them shaking the dejected feelings they came away from day one with to be able to do what it takes to mount any sort of charge. If they dont walk away with a 4-1 win today I can't see them having any chance of coming back. I'm a little more pessimistic than you. Maybe 11-4 or 5

I agree. Even if we win 3 today, it'll be 7 to 3 and we'd have to win 8 of the last 11 matches. Tall order. Almost as tall an order as getting Pinky out of the freaking bathroom before match time! :angry:

Score? At this point it's not about the score anymore.
Forget about the pool technique and skill.

Our U.S.A players are out-hearted, out-cultured, out-gelled, out-practiced and out-played.
We need to work on our inner game before we can ever win again.

Sorry to say this but when I saw Earl resort to his sideline bickering, complaining, arrogance, and overall (direct) disrespect to the European team, I switched off.

Earl has ruined this MC for me on day 1—as I predicted.
I will allow this forum to continue with its excuses as regards the break, rolls, and other lucky factors for the Europe team.

I'm no fan of his antics but I will say this: I have never seen a better player in my life.

I agree with your statement, Ghosst, that Earl is one hell of a player, BUT he ruins the game's integrity by his disrespectful actions.

Fans of Earl always claim that HE is good for the sport.
But what these same fans fail to understand is that as good as he was at one point
he could have raised the sport in terms of class, sportsmanship, respect to others, and overall goodwill ambassador.
He did very, very little of this over the years.

And now? We (and he) want to claim that all his actions were a good means to a purpose.
What purpose? To appease whom? To follow what precedence?

Nope. It's all to simply justify the never-ending bad behaviors that EARL is responsible for and the very same ones that emanate from him.
Earl says that others pushed his buttons and MADE him do "those" things. Whatever.

Please hurry up and get out of my pool world, Earl. Go graze in your pasture.
Retire, because a new breed of U.S. player is just around the corner.
