Why is the APA so frowned upon?

Directed to Leto's post

Let me clear a few things up on what Leto posted since he is not up to date. And I dont have the time or the intent on getting into any pissing matches here. Just stating the facts as they are now.

1. Those players were TAP members before they got caught cheating in the APA. At that time they didn't do anything in TAP for me to ban them. No other leagues or peer pressure from this or any other forum is going to dictate what TAP does within our company.

2. TAP does not ban players for something they did in other leagues. In reverse, I have banned players for life that are allowed to play in other leagues.

3. Last September after one of my events I did ban those players (except one who has distanced himself from those people and has kept his nose clean in TAP.)

4. Unlike the APA and BCA, these players were banned for life in TAP. Mark Griffen approached me at the SBE and he explained to me his position and I explained to him mine. I respected his decision and I believe he respected mine.

5. Maybe you should talk to the NAPA leagues because that is where these players are competing now. In fact the one players that got toasted by the AZ members (initials are JT) wrote me a PM threatening me if I didn't leave them back in TAP and let them "do their thing" in other TAP leagues that they would try anything they could to discredit TAP. Imagine, being banned and still wanting to play TAP then the other leagues. ( I told him to take a hike but in slightly stronger language.)

So Leto....Those players you are concerned bout will never play TAP but they are playing in NAPA and eventually could be allowed in the other leagues.

And to Banks.....

I have been doing 99% of the sales for TAP since 2001 and I have been averaging a new licensee every 3 weeks for at least the past 4 years. The TAP Rally at the SBE had 22 teams in 1997. TAP has opened it up to 192 teams for 2014. I think that should answer your question on how many players have come into TAP.

Well, thanks for clearing this up, as nothing had been heard about it since everything went down earlier this year.

Well over 225,000

TAP's brought in almost a quarter million new players?

I really have nothing against TAP or any other league, because they're there for their own players and in the end it's just a night out to me. The issue I have is when there are a couple of bad LO's and people go branding the entire league like it's the four horsemen of the pool apocolype. It's where I started(and still play) and people will improve regardless of a handicap system, as long as that's what they want(to be better at something).

Banned players

Leto....as far as myself and TAP are concerned, we have moved on and those players were not worth mentioning...I will say one thing...after they were banned and they were at a start up meeting for NAPA, I was emailed a pic of a TAP nationals poster from one of those players with the writing in it stating...F##k Off....Players like that wont be missed by TAP or our members.

Great Post. IMHO..People like to say that APA is great for bringing new players to the table................They do, but at what cost?

Lol. How many players has TAP brought in?

This was the question....

229,617 as of today.

My question was in response to you questioning the "cost" [to pool/players] of the new players that the APA brings in. Maybe I could have been more specific, but my inquiry was in reference to the same. How many new players?

question

Why focus on numbers that change day to day? That's just wasting time and energy. TAP would rather focus on the improvements such as the new scoring apps for IPhones, IPads and soon droids, TAP X format, Poolnet, our national events and venues and simply put...pushing the envelope in league play that no one else is doing. Who cares what the number are? We are growing. Isn't that enough?

Thats all for me....here is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

I don't think TAP has a number on that and I don't think they even care to know. Why focus on numbers that change day to day? That's just wasting time and energy. I'm not the one that brought it up. He wanted to take a dig at a rival, so I turned the question around on him. I'm not even sure why people have such fits over such a small amount of hobby money. The people that try to cheat and those that cause problems are relatively small. For example, the guys that seemingly were trying to screw over every league system - made big noise and headaches for almost everybody they dealt with, while there are plenty of regular people that have fun in each league.

I like leagues, they promote pool. I know a lot of the people in my APA league, so that's where I've mostly played. Who cares which league people are playing, as long as they're having fun and playing pool.

Plus TAP has the Penn-Ohio Turnpike tournament coming up in a month....

Hope to see you there. Handicap 6 against handicap 6. Hmmmm....

I think I'm available for a team event. I'm a solider without an Army.

Yes, cost to the game. If a player enters the largest pool league in the world, only to leave a short time later dissatisfied?...which happens every day, How is that positive for the game / pool industry / pool players??

nit...nit...nit...Mr Banks.
Only the pool gods know how many "new" players...lol...that is an unanswerable question as you well know.

If you haven't tried TAP, perhaps you should consider becoming a licensee.
Mr Rullo has been selling TAP areas at a record pace this year, and can bring you the fastest growing league in the country, with mobile device administration which eliminates paper, at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. TAP is now the easiest league to run in the world too!

That's all for me as well..............Merry Christmas!!

Nit? Get lost.

If I haven't tried TAP, chances are pretty freakin slim after some crappy answer like the above. See ya.

Actually, I posted a question about those apps in their thread several weeks ago, never got a response.when will they be available for iPad?

First Install iOS7 on apple devices. The app is not listed in the "iPad Store" but is in the phone section of the app store. It is the same app and looks the same on the iPad and runs the same as the phone.

After Droid is finished this summer and all tablets have been designed, it will be listed specifically. But again its the exact same app...and can be found in the phone section of the apps store.

Good luck, you will like the purpose built "one touch" timers that we have built specifically for pool leagues...and all pool leagues for that matter...or any pool format where time is an issue.

You can find them here:
