CET/Pro1 - My Journey.

Been playing pool for 35 years - had a job traveling on the road making good money which afforded me the luxury of playing on the road against a variety of players, some unknown and some well known.
I got a call once from Hal Mix who was Nick Varner's coach. I met up with Hal and discussed the possibility of me hitting the pro tour.
Then I got busy with life, making money, getting married, going broke and having a kid. (in that order)

So I laid off serious pool for a long time. Around a year ago a local discovered my past and roped me into his APA Masters league. So here I am back into pool.

Around the same time I purchased Stan's video CTE/Pro 1 - I consider myself an open minded individual and wanted to see what it was all about. I actually got a phone call in 2004 from Hal Houle (still have no idea how he got my number) and he talked enthusiastically about his aiming system. I took a few notes and I truly enjoyed speaking with Hal as his zeal and personality were one of a kind. But since I was pretty much out of pool at the time I did not try it out.

Working with CTE/Pro 1 was like a roller coaster journey. I could not get it to work at all for a few weeks and almost wrote it off completely. One day though I started seeing my lines, pivoting and the ball started slapping into the back of the pocket. I realized there was substance to this so I kept at it.

The hardest part for someone like me is to 'unlearn' years of subconscious aiming. The manual pivot is the weirdest most unnatural thing an experienced pool player can do but it works if done right.

For many months my game suffered and actually got worse before it got better. I was half way committed to CTE but under pressure went back to the familiar.

So I began easing into Pro1 and it started falling into place. It feels nice and natural. I simply find my two lines of aim, drop into my shot letting my eyes lead and shoot the ball. Its amazing!

Pro1 has become so natural to me that I no longer think about it. Its just a part of the way I shoot. It is now my normal and natural way of shooting.

I truly believe that CTE/Pro1 has helped me get back near my former level of playing in a much shorter time.

I believe the power of the system comes down to two main things.

1. You learn to see the aiming lines perfectly every time.
2. You learn to play near center cue ball on most shots giving a consistency you will never get by aiming all over the cue ball.

Your mileage may vary but I will never go back to the old way.

Very nice posting sir :)

Covers my expirience as well- it s really a tough job to get rid of *old learnt* things. And you have to put in the necessary time-- but hey. that s what the most players also hold back from practicing seriously anyway^^

have a smooth stroke- and thanks for this nice comment.
lg from overseas,
