All this talk of stabilizing your own wood in the shop got me thinking.....I have an old bag (probably 8 yrs old) of B-72 Paraloid that is almost full that I won't ever use... since I send my burl to the pros..

If you've been around the "self stabilizing" scene in the last 10-15 yrs then you know what this is. (One of the many DIY homebrews) and I'm sure the directions for mixing are out on the net. If it was blue you would be thinking Heisenberg made it.....LOL


FREE..... but I need $6 bucks for the mailman. First "I'll take it", gets it.

Paul,
Bob actually gave you some good advice regarding the saran wrap. I'm not a fan of anchorseal, because I think it just makes a mess, but lots of guys like to use it. The B72 is usually mixed with things like Acetone, or Xylene, etc. Fun stuff to breathe, it eats away at the rubber seals on most chambers.....

Cut your wood oversized, wrap in saran, dry it, and then send it in to be processed by someone who can push the stabilizer all the way thru your "oak".... That's my advice.

I had several people ask about the Res 90. This is already spoken for, but here is a pic of the bottle and the catalyst.

The guy who was selling this was also selling the glass stabilizing chambers.... back in the day. Several makers bought his chambers thinking they could do their own.

None of them were able to do it using vac alone, and the chambers couldn't handle the pressure, so they are now paperweights.
