Pro One Shots

Sometimes I like to set up different CB/OB locations, and run through all the visuals and sweeps to find different shots. I'm going to do it more often, and will post them here. If anyone else is interested in joining the fun (*cough cough*, Gerry/Stan, *cough cough*), please feel free.

This first one is a little tough, but it's all about the speed. I did it on a Diamond 9' with 4 1/4" pockets and hit it center ball at pocket speed.

The visuals are CTE/R, OBB, Right sweep. The OB is a chalk's distance away from the rail.

Will follow this thread with interest. Until I pull the trigger and get the 2nd DVD, this will help me try out shots that I know are supposed to work. Knowing the visuals will eliminate the guessing in choosing the OB aim point and sweep. I really enjoy Stan's and Gerry's "multi-solution" shots, so I guess Videos could be included in this thread as well.

Great Idea!

Do everyone a favor and place no markers on the table. When they look like set up / trick shots then that raises suspicion. The more they look like random shots the better. Maybe even roll the balls on the table and shoot from where they stop. Just an idea if you get my meaning. Skeptics everywhere.

This isn't a thread for the skeptics.

I have a pair of video eyeglasses coming in the mail, I'm going to be trying out some 1st person CTE shots, we'll see how they work out. I'll pick some topics, I think the first will be two-rail banks off the end-rail, and how to apply CTE to them. Maybe I'll try demonstrating shots from this thread.

That would be greatly appreciated as well! The tough thing for us CTE/ProOne noobs is finding the visuals. If we could get your POV, and even pause the clip to see what you see, it would help a lot. I know practice on the table is best, but sometimes a video or comment from experienced users is all it takes for that "click" to happen in our heads and understand the concepts better

Cheers

Yeah I'm kind of anticipating it, as I've seen no 1st person video out there yet. I was careful to get a pair with the camera at the center, and my vision center is just on the inside of my left eye, so we'll see how well it works.

Looks like you missed the ball straight in and it went one bank. What would the visual be for straight in? I would think the visual would be the same??

Check the location of the CB, it's not straight in.

But to cut to the top left corner, it would be the same visuals, but with a left sweep instead.

Cut to corner is A inside or B outside.
The overcut bank with no geometric connection can be tried with B inside.

That is a good shot and you are thinking correctly in that the next thinnest visual can be used for the attempt.

We don't care about the skeptics? Markers are placed so that you can practice the exact shot.

Top pros are PRECISE about ball placement so that they are working on the exact shot and not one that is close.

Why?

Because sometimes a half inch makes a lot of difference in how you aim and hit the shot.

im expecting my dvd soon
this thread will be helpfull showing specific shots anf how experienced cte/pro one ers approach them
the eye camera will be especially helpfull to me to get in the minds eye of someone who sees the shots thru the eyes of the system

I'll tell you now, the camera will only give a general approach to the shot, it won't show precisely how to line up on a given visual. The perception from our eyes is very different than the perception from a single camera lens. And it won't be exactly on my vision center, but it will be close.

I learned this one the other night on the short rail. Making the ball happens about four out of ten. Laying the ball in the pocket happens about four out of then. Banking it too high happens about one out of ten and making it in the corner happens about one out of ten (stroke error).

All in all a high percentage shot that I will shoot at every time as long as I can get the cue ball safe. Did you make note of that Lou? Lou you are going to find that there are very few places you can leave a CTE banker where there is not a good bank high percentage bank to the hole.

I know that all the skeptics think that people using systems like CTE/Pro One are stood over every shot wondering what visual/sweep combination to use but that is not the case once you become proficient.

I would say that on 90% of my shots I do not even think about it.

On banks or tough back cuts etc it requires me to be a little more aware of the CTE perceptions.

I guarantee that I play with as smooth a rhythm as any player - I am not stumbling from shot to shot wondering what to do.

With dedicated table time it becomes automatic.

Are you saying CTE, ETB with a right sweep makes the cut shot in the corner pocket or the bank in the other corner pocket? Looks like it would require a left sweep to thin the cut out just to make the ball in the corner pocket. I'm guessing it would take ETC with an inside or outside sweep to have a chance of making the bank shot.

The cut in the corner is A left sweep.

Here's a tough one, only because you have to practice your speed/spin to get it right.

CTE(R)/ETA, Outside Sweep.
