Qiut smoking day for AZers and support.Monday.

Stick to it my friend......

Well I did finish that pack I had from last week. My last cigarette was before work on Thursday morning. None since then so maybe quitting will stick this time. Had a rough weekend but made it through. Hopefully it gets easier from here on. The fact that everyone smokes at my home room makes it tougher when I am there. Definitely makes me want to smoke when everyone else is. One day at a time......

Your first new steps in making the rest of your life a whole lot better.

Determination my friend........

I quit 24 years ago. It was tough, and I tried a few times before I was successful, but I'm glad I did.

I WILL NOT SMOKE RIGHT NOW!

I WANT A HEALTHIER LIFE AND THAT IS WHY I HAVE STOPPED SMOKING!

MAYBE BY STOPPING SMOKING, I WILL BE AROUND A LITTLE LONGER AND WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH AND HELP THE GRANDCHILDREN GROW INTO ADULTHOOD.

I HAVE STOPPED SMOKING FOREVER! THIS ISN'T UP FOR DISCUSSION.

I WISH I HAD STOPPED SOONER, BUT NOW IS BETTER THAN NEVER.

SURE, I HAVE FAILED TO QUIT SMOKING PREVIOUSLY BUT NOW I HAVE THE RESOLVE TO QUIT FOREVER, NOT JUST FOR A DAY, A WEEK, A MONTH, A YEAR ETC. THIS IS PERMANENT.

WHO KNOWS MAYBE MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER WILL THINK THAT MY NON-SMOKING WILL MAKE ME MORE ATTRACTIVE TO THEM. THAT WOULD BE NICE.

I'M DONE WITH SMOKING. I FOOLED MYSELF LONG ENOUGH TO THINK THAT SMOKING IS OK. SCIENCE HAS PROVED IT'S NOT. MY HEALTH ISN'T GETTING BETTER FROM THE SMOKE; IT'S GETTING WORSE. NOW IS THE TIME TO STOP, forever.

I'm sure that we got many thinking about quitting and about 5 for sure.

All we can do is pray for our fellow AZers and hope they can have the strength to get past the tough part.

After a couple of weeks it gets much better.

Pretty strong words there my friend......

If we get one each week to quit or even try to quit the thread is a huge success.

One player at a time. And Azers got your back......

Any updates from AZer smokers that have quit?

Keep us updated on what you are going through with quitting this habit.

How long it is before the addiction lets up a little.

Many of us that have quit have forgotten how really tough it was because of the period of time that has elapsed. But we do remember it was a real battle.

Share with us the first week even if you were not successful. Don't give up. You can use what you learned this time to help you quit again. Eventually you will learn how to quit. Just like learning to play pool and playing a race to 30.

But you only have to win this race ONE TIME,,,,,,,,How sweet is that!
By sharing your personal battle, feeling and emotions it will help others like yourself quit by knowing exactly what they are going to experience.

It will also help them see the light at the end of the tunnel isn't as far away as they thought after the first 3 or 4 days. Your almost there....

Azer's helping azer's beat this addiction once and for all.

Help yourself by helping others sharing HOPE...........

How long has it been since you've had a cigarette?

The urges will become less frequent the longer you stay quit.

This isn't easy but it is truly worth it.

Good luck and strong will.

Today is 2.5 weeks without a puff, from 1-2 packs a day.

Chantix is awesome.

In Boston for a work conference this week, been drinking heavily every night. Had a few moments where I considered it, and easily could have smoked without my wife finding out, but the thought of more withdrawals and the renewed cravings the next day were enough for me to resist.

Keep it up my friend. Your through the worst of it.

Now it sounds like you have made up your own mind to quit forever.

Good Luck.......

To anyone that has stopped for any length of time..... I stopped for 5 years. 1970-1975. I took one puff a cigar someone gave me (they had a kid) and was back to 2-3 packs of cigs a day within a month. Took 15 years to stop again. Do not light up that next smoke. Get it out of your mind immediately. Thank about how great you are doing. You've been on a great run. Keep it going.

Thank you Gold Crown......

A perfect example of how strong these drugs are that are in these (coffin nails).

They used to put Cocaine in the coca cola back in the early 1900's/

They learned how to refine sugar many years ago to make us even more addicted to it. Now they came up with something even better. High fructose corn syrup.

And they put chemicals in the cigs to make us addicted to them.

They made the practice of cocaine in the coca cola illegal and fixed that fiasco.

Who knows what really causes diabetes.

But they sure know what causes cancer!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially lung cancer!

What would they do if some company lined up 200,000 people a year and just shot them?

Exactly.

90% of all lung cancer is caused directly from cig smoke. Approximately 200,000 people in the USA die from lung cancer every year. The figures don't lie. They are documented on the internet from many studies. We just have to look. .

What if 5 million people a year got so sick that it ruined their life forever but got cured by cutting parts and pieces off like arms, hands, feet, and toes and lungs. Or chemo where they kill everything to kill the bad.

I'm mad as hell that I smoked for 11 years and did damage to my body .

I'm mad as hell that my friends are still dying from this terrible addiction.

Thank you Gold Crown for your testimonial showing one more time how addictive this legal drug is.

Quit for so many years and just once and they got you again.

I quit about 5 times before I kicked the problem forever at least for now.

But we are only one puff away from being addicted again.

Thanks for your huge message on here to those trying to quit.

Don't give up....once you quit you need to see it as the poison(Cancer) it is.

Never again.............You need to care enough about yourself to stop this from happening to you..

If I may put my tinfoil hat on for a minute.....what better way to control population in an overpopulated country/world? The key is educating yourself and wising up to all the things that are lethal and un-necessary..... Granted, being alive is hazardous to your health, I'm not one of those that needs warning labels on warning labels or is a lawsuit happy whinyass when things go wrong that are of my own creation....IE, I won't sue Smith & Wesson if some thug shoots me, I won't sue McDonalds if I get fat, and I won't sue RJ Reynolds if I develop lung cancer, even though I quit smoking 3 years ago..... I'm sure you see where I'm going with this....but I digress back to my tinfoil hat, food for thought.

Thanks, I wish I could have snuck away but I was in meetings all day and awards dinners all nights. The hotel bar must have made a fortune on my group lol. If I ever am out here with free time I will shoot you a PM.

Kudo's to all of you for quitting. I've been on Wellbutrin/Zyban for 2 weeks but still smoking.

Great site to help you quit for sure.....

http://www.whyquit.com/

This is a great site to help people that want to quit.

It might just give you that one more club in your bag to get r done.

I'm sure many players here on AZ that want don't know these sites even exist.

I know I didn't.

Good Luck my friends.

We got another Monday coming up. Who's going to make this Monday their quit day and take back control of their life?

You're on a crusade it seems, which is for a good cause most definitely.... Did smoking result in you coming down with a smoking-related illness? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to, I'm just curious as to why you're doing this with such passion. I tip my hat to you regardless of the reason though.

Did you know that there are as many people that quit smoking as are smoking in the US

This is a first.

What many smokers don't know is that many of the chemicals that get absorbed into the body will take 100's of years to eliminate so your never rid of them.

The sooner a person quits the better.

I'm there. I'm overloaded. How does a person know this?

If you get sick from breathing in even second hand smoke and you used to smoke your probably overloaded with carcinogens in your body for sure.

I smoked for 13 years and I had a bar for about 13 years and breathed in huge amounts of second hand smoke. I was sick all the time even though I didn't smoke. But I was used to feeling sick so I didn't blame it on the smoke. I blamed it on sinus and allergy trouble.

In 1999 when I got out of the bar business I was out of the smoke almost all the time. I worked allot. But soon I realized how bad I felt after being in it for one night. I couldn't hardly work the next day. Plus I had a sore throat, stuffed up nose and burning eyes, with no energy for days.

Most of my friends that I knew when I was younger in the pool world are dead. I'd be at their funeral and as soon as the service was over the friends that smoked would be outside lighting one up. It was almost surreal, like they were lining up to be next and didn't know it. How sad. They're all gone now also. Most of them at least.

I was at a benefit for kids with cancer in Ohio. Dee Atkins is doing some good things for the kids there. Who knows for sure but chances are some of these kids might be sick from second hand smoke. No matter what it is pretty heart wrenching.

My Xwife and myself smoked when we were younger around my son. At about age 4 he came down with terrible asthma. It has effected his life in a bad way ever since. When he does the breathing tests and they tell him to breath in the tube for the second time he says, I AM, because that's he has.

I've seen the devastation around the country done from this terrible habit and addiction.

When I travel around the USA and teach pool, the players are the best. I feel right at home and almost feel like staying everywhere I go. We have such a huge network of the nicest people in the world that will do just about anything to help a stranger, fellow pool player.

There are many people and players like myself that understand how bad this problem is with the smoke. Us pool players have had the worst of it for years, smoking ourselves and then having to continue breathing it in just to play the game we love.

This thread is just a way to give a little bit back to some of these good players that are stuck in this addiction trap and can't seem to get out.

But by seeing this thread day in and day out it might just plant a seed that could get a few players on the road to a much healthier and longer life.

Again I want to Thank all the players that have contributed to this thread, including yourself, for giving your words of wisdom and encouragement to those that smoke.

Monday is right around the corner.

Like Clint Eastwood would sat. Make My day. This Monday could be yours.

A healthier you.

I've smoked for about 6 years now after quitting for about 15 years. Just ordered a voprizer for myself and as soon as it arrives, the cigarettes will be gone. I'm going to start with the oil that has nicotine in it and slowly mix less of it in with the non nicotine oil. As I just turned 40 I realized that time is getting shorter and every day I can extend my life by quitting, the better I am for it.

After you quit. Your car will run without you lighting up. Your phone works without a smoke in your hand.

BTW.. I drink.....alcohol goes down without a cigarette in my hand. :D
