A question about cue balance

no decent cue has a screw in tip. click on the marketplace link and look at Players cues. I haven't decided whether you are serious with the questions. It certainly seems that someone that has played pool more games than 10 is not as ignorant as your questions seem. If you are playing with guys that tell you that a screw on tip is better, you need to find someone or where else to play.

As someone else already said, you need to read his other threads/posts. It won't be long before you figure it out.

I honestly hate screw on tips, however; I have come across a couple players that swear by them. One of them being a 5/6 level player in apa. He loves them and is always trying to convince people they are the best. He actually had me make a screw on tip ferule for a jacoby he had using ivorine, and he loves it. Im not exactly a fan. I thought it played shitty but you cant argue with his results.

In my opinion screw on tips rank up there with lepro tips. Why would you want an inconsistant tip when there have been so many advancements in the way of tip technology. Sure they were good years ago. But that doesnt meen you have to still use them. When was the last time you seen someone pop out poloroid camera, or a polyester suit. Asbestos was awesome why not still use it, or how bout some good old fasion lead paint. You cant beat lead paint for its durability. My point is these were all great advancements of their time but now are obsolete because they were replaced by something way better. But yet every day I get people asking for lepro tips.

The fact of the matter is your skill level is not dependant on the equipment you use, and if used long enough can be used to great acuracy, how many times have we heard stories about someone playing efficiantly with a broom handle or the butt end of their cue? Its not the equipment it is the person. the better the equipment the easier it is on the person I agree on that. But who is to say what I think is better is better. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

And yes, I know the consensus is that screw on tips suck. But if someone wants it who are we to judge them. I play with a jacoby with an ivorine ferule a ultraskin tip a ob shaft and a leather wrap. I love my stick and the way it playtys and wouldnt trade it for the world. But im guessing i could throw a rock in this forum and hit a bunch of people that would tell me something is wrong. There are people that dont like leather wraps. There is the group that dont like ultraskins, there is the group that dont believe the hype of the ld shafts, there is the group that think ivorine sucks, and there is the group that think jacoby makes a shity stick. But yet I use them all together and play very well.

It isnt up to anyone to tell someone else what to want. if he wants screw on het him have it.

APA 5-6 swears by them. Enough said folks!!

All I'm saying is to each his own, and not every ones opinion has to match. Just because you cant play with one doesnt mean others cant. And I pointed out his handicap because I wanted to stop people from thinking he was a beginner player. He may npt be an advanced player but he aint no slob eaither.

A screw-on tip, lots of deflection, miscues, etc., sounds like the perfect cue to use when hustling. I wonder what a matching 1x1 case would look like?

This cue, on the other hand, has all the weight concentrated in the handle part, while the shaft is unusually light. That means the balance point is located much closer to the butt comparing to most house cues. Now I don't think it will be a huge problem, but I'd like to know if this type of balance is found in all 2-part cues, or if there are models which have their weight distributed more like the house cues.

I prefer my balance points around 19 1/4 to 19 1/2, that for me is ideal! But anywhere between 19 and 20" is fine by me.
Just don't like too much weight in the butt...
