What Schuler Cue is this?

I am seeking some expertise on Schuler cues. I own a couple originals (not SLC). One is an SC 200, my daily player - though I have not played in >5yrs or so. I'm keeping it.

The other is...well, I'm not 100% certain. Before listing it for sale, I was hoping to prevail upon you for some expert help to identify it.
It is close to SC 180 based on Blue Book description and B&W photo, but has an inlay ring between the signature and the wrap which an SC 180 does not.
Also I think the shaft marking says P114 - can you decode that? I would guess it means Pro taper, 114 grams - ?

Hopefully these pics will provide enough for the purpose.

Thanks for any help!

Single P means Schuler Pro taper, as opposed to the PP designation of the standard pro taper.

114 grams is the weight.

The catalog numbering of the Schuler cues were more like base guidelines. The Schuler Cue company often changed the looks of the catalog cue slightly, even if it kept the same designation.

The B ring is definitely unique and exists in other catalog years. Customized cues were built at the shop. The signature is consistent with Ray's signature and not Noel's writing.

114g is weight of the shaft.. just a tad over 4 oz. P is for Pro taper or it could have been Schuler Pro, as he had his own "pro" type shaft as well. He had quite a bit of shaft selection...

Ray told me that the number on the shaft (in this case 114) was the wood lot number. It helped him to identify the particular batch of wood used for that shaft.

I have seen shafts with different wood lot numbers for different cues. When I would call him to ask for another shaft for one of my Schuler cues, he'd ask me for the wood lot number on my shaft so he could match it.

The letter (in this case 'P') represented the taper.

Maybe he stored all the same weight shafts together in lots, but on my trips to the shop, the number was always explained as the weight in grams. And all my shafts are consistent with the number on them except the ones I had retapered.

That's how Ray explained to me too :)

I just took a look at 3 of my pro shafts that aren't boxed away, and one is 113, two that came about a year later say 114. They all say "P" and one has the number 29 after the P.

The 113 was my first Schuler cue which would make sense if they are lot numbers and the lot numbers are in date order. I don't know what the number 29 means unless that is the lot number, but then it's not on the other two shafts.

If it's a single P, it's Ray's version of the pro taper. A double P would be the standard pro taper of old (not the Meucci pro taper, LOL).

To the best of my knowledge, the P shafts were shorter than 29" (28.5" the websites say). So, they must have made you a special 29" P shaft.

I double checked and it's definitely P 29. Ray did send me prototypes to experiment with, but he always told me ahead of time and this wasn't one of them.

I'm looking for a 3C cue. If you are still selling this one, depending on price and specifics (weight, shaft size and taper, etc.) I may be interested. PM sent...

Back in the early 90's, an SC 180 had no decorative rings. I believe they were added later without changing the model number. Ray tended to update the models without changing the numbers. In the 90's, an SC 230 had no decorative metal rings or spear caps for the points but by 2002 they did. I believe the SC 240 was a completely different cue with floating points whereas the 240BF that I purchased in '90 had standard points with windows in the buttsleeve.
