last night at my apa double jeapordy league i went up to my lo and informed him i was dropping off his tue night travel league team.he asked why ? i told him it was just a hassle trying to make it to the away games down south on my bike.

he asked if i can stay on the team and play at our home base which is only 10 minutes from home . i said yea i can do that...after i play in my money league down the road.

now before you guys go thinking ...yea he just wants your money when you do show i up. i been playing on his team for a year for free.

later my f/f goes up to him and asks for a couple new member cards. she tells him we are adding her son and his friend to our double jeapordy team. when she tells him his friend moved moved in with us and he was an adopted kid from russia who had problems at home and been staying with us for 2 months now.

she told him we were going to pay his membership dues and his weekly fees till he got a job the lo said he would cover both.

watcha think about that .?

i thought all lo's ...especially apa lo's were all greedy money grubbing asshats according to all of ya'll on here.

A generous league operator? Must be that pesky law of averages again.

Seriously though, good to hear some nice things for a change.

I'll tell you what I think......I think the APA would be the greatest thing out there IF a majority of the LO's were like yours....and you can give him a pat on the back for me and tell him I said that.

Unfortunately for me......the one in my area is more like the description at the end of your post :frown:.

The LO sounds great, you just sound like you're trying to stir up drama.

Thinking all Apa operators are bad is as ignorant as the people who think they're all good lol

Great stuff, lorider. Nice to hear.

Bad news always travels well, the good news not so much. Glad you brought it up.

I think the same as Maniac:

just about every thread that pops up on this forum concerning leagues...any league ...you have guys come on *****ing and moaning about their lo.

i start one praising my lo and you think i am trying to start drama ? not a chance.

maybe i worded it wrong or you took it wrong ...i dont know ? but i can assure you i am not a drama queen lol.

Lorider is on here saying that he has an awesome LO. Why are we not all posting about how awesome that is and asking ourselves how can we make this the norm istead of any negative posts? We need to come together as a community and try to become a stronger sport. I applaud your LO Lorider.

We have several great LO's in the northwest. King Co. and Snohomish Co. have some of the best. Not to mention the Portland area.

Now lets hear some of the areas that have great LO's! No matter what league they are promoting!

you are exactly right dub.

most threads about leagues or lo's are started because some one is complaining ....very seldom does some one come on here spreading the news when a lo does good.

oh ! an i want to take this opportunity to rub it in ..he don't charge for patches either lol. :D

don't get me wrong.... he aint no saint. i been known to give him shit a couple of times but i think he oughta be praised when he does some thing good.

Im not sure we have all the details, but this is/should be against apa rules. Unless he is paying fees for everyone on his team. And I assume he is a non playing member? LO's are not supposed to play in their own league area. Please elaborate and correct me where I'm wrong.

I agree.. I've even got the Snoho LO on FB.

Sounds like a good LO. Always nice to have those around. Do me a favor and buy him a round or two for me. Know what? Heck, buy the whole bar a round for me. Ok, thanks!

From what I understand, they can't play in anything beyond regular weekly league. If they want to do a favor for friends, that's up to them, but it doesn't negate the money coming out of their own pocket to cover it.

let me share with you my opinion of how most people are.

when i was a young kid " about 20 years old at the time " i was promoted to a fore man with a utility contracting co.

day in a day out i just went about doing my job to the best of my ability. i never heard any remarks one way or the other about my performance.

one day about 3 months after i had been promoted the big boss appeared on my job site. after checking every thing out and having not said a word he was getting ready to leave. i asked how am i performing ? he said ..you are doing a great job.

i said i did not know because i never heard any thing mentioned about it.

he said ...believe me if you were not doing a good job you would definitely have heard about it.

its just the waya lot of people are sad to say .

I understand. He sounds like a top rate guy. Some players would see it as favoritism or a conflict of interest. I, personally, wouldn't care. But a lot would. In APA team manual it says host locations or captains can not offer any special favors to any one individual, unless they do it for the whole team. Maybe that doesn't apply to the LO. Like I said.... I wouldn't care but it is in the team manual.

in our area the lo has a program called " fill a bye and get free play".

for example you have 11 teams in a division. one team a week will have a bye. to avoid this our lo will let a team join that division and every one on that team plays free for that session. if no new teams form for next session this same team can continue filling that bye and continue playing for free.

it just so happens my lo plays on this same team. as a matter of fact he plays on teams in several divisions.

yes apa does allow lo's to play on teams...so does bcapl.and napa.

unlike bcapl apa does not allow lo's to play in any higher level other than regular sessions.

i think its great that lo's play on teams. it gives them the opportunity to interact with every body on a weekly basis. it also gives them to opportunity to watch every one that night and observe their true playing level every week....helps avoid sand bagging.

some say that if an lo is a high level player it gives teams he play on an unfair advantage in reaching play offs. i don't think it has that effect. the reason being is because if that particular team can advance through the play offs ....tri cups.. cities with out him then they sure could have reached the play offs with or with out him.

i am not sure what apa's rules are but bcapl allows their lo's to play on teams at the nationals and i think you are aware of what happened at the bcapl nationals last year with a certain team from arizona.

and no its froze... i am not trying to stir drama..just stating facts am
n:grin-square:swering a posters question.

oh yea... apa also gives free play for a session if you bring a new member to apa.

and....every division has a division rep which also plays for free each session.

in napa league team captains play for free. they are also automaticaly eligible for nationals where they also play for free.

unlike the misconception that seems to run rampant on this forum ...not all leagues or lo's are strictly about how much money they can get out of you.
