Best woods going into ebony forearm! Show me pics help!

HAHAHAHAHA....lets keep the knife wood pics to a minimum. Everybody knows knife wood burls grows on different trees and lay in different bogs than "cue wood"....

I like the Aussie burls for pairing with ebony - Red ones (Red Mallee / Red Morell / Vasticola)...

This wood is amazing

My votes are for snakewood/ebony or Amboyna burl/ebony. A very close second place would be really good curly maple/ebony. Also, I feel like combinations like these look much better in 6+ point cues than in traditional 4 pointers.

I think the real trick to making these woods look good against ebony, though, is to not overdo the veneer colors. IMO, they should either "match" the base woods or be relatively muted in color. I feel like super bright veneers on either if these wood combinations are just a little too much and take away from their natural beauty.

A couple of recents from me.

Left: Cocobolo cut with the grain.

Right: red mallee burr.

Not sure which I prefer though.

I have a Babinga into Ebony that I like. Pics suck will take better ones and post again.

I ordered a cue from Josey last year and was going to get BEM into an ebony forearm, but Sherri recommended bocote into ebony as something different and it turned out great. Not as flashy as some of the burl cues, but it's very classy and the heavy figure in the bocote really matches well with the dark ebony. (pictures are crappy and don't do the cue justice)
