Weight in Action

Although the consensus with many is that action games with shortstops and lower, that the game should be played even.. Should more weight be given for say a TAP 5 playing a TAP 7 in 9 ball versus 8 ball? I Myself enjoy playing for something.. $50 sets, $100 sets but it's near impossible to get any action with anyone of the same SL(skill level). I only get it with 7's.. Some are weaker 7's, some are super strong 7's. Never the less play much more consistent than me. I won't play even, I don't go looking for action it seems to find it's way. Any thoughts? 2 on the wire 8 ball? 3 in 9 ball Race to 7. Usually is a fair game for me, I find I have learned exponentially more in action versus playing in league matches. Any mid tier players have any action stories? love to hear em

Someone can be a better 9 ball player than you (shot maker) but be even with you in 8 ball because of strategy. So depends on the person. I don't set an avg spot (weight) per skill level at 8 or 9 just depends how you feel you match up.

Your consensus is wayyyyyyy messed up.

You say you don't look for action games, but they seem to find you, and that you wont play without a spot.

But then you say you learn more in action than league.

How in the world do you get better playing the same class players.
The games you are asking for are ludicrous. Why not lower your bet and go get some cheaper sets with better players instead of needing weight before you break the balls.

you can be a sucker and lose to better players playing even or match up well with whoever you play and win and let them be the sucker.

you get better by playing and lerning as you play and practicing. you dont get better by throwing your money away to better players who always tell you you should play them even. watch in the pool room and see who they play even. then ask why they dont play the better players that come in even.

That sums it up.
