Wanted, carbide sanding mandrels

Why would you want anything in such a range when you can get exactly what you want from Tom and know it's going to be perfect? I see used mandrels of various sizes come up about once a year and normally there aren't much of a bargain.

One reason I can think of is if you do a lot or repair/refinish work, you find out not all cues are .850. I see the range from .830 to .865. I have a friend making some sleeves now for .860 and .865. I then make a brass mandrel to press them on. Low cost but effective for when you need that odd size. I have a set from Tom at .850 and I use that for my cues that I build but I also have .830, .835, .840, and .845 that my buddy turned for me out of carbide sleeves from drill presses. It is too expensive to have a complete set made for every size at $250- $300 a pop, just on the off chance you need that size to refinish the shaft of a customer's cue.

Wouldn't it be easier to require the butt and shaft be delivered together?

I do, but I don't sand the butt and shaft to match, I only use the butt to check the dia. Then use the mandrel to size it and may hand sand parts of the shaft collar area if the butt collar is out of round.

Mandrel

I have the shaft end only. Its a 3/8x10 and measures .848. Don't have the other end.
Not sure who made it. Looks to be in good condition.
Make me an offer if your interested.
