Everyone plays everyone.

If for the next 'big' 1pocket tourney, they should adopt the format like straight pool where everyone plays everyone in a 16 man round robin. 4 players to each group. Then the top 2 of each group enter into a single elimination format. Over a course of 5 days or so. Race to 4 or 5. Or something to this effect.

What do you players think??

I don't care for RR for obvious reasons.

Actually you can... Weight the round robin section higher than the final matches.... or all matches pay the same.... I may be 0-3 in my section but a win pays 500 I won't lay down for free and if the semis and finals pay 500 each noone is going to be offering me a deal of 500 to take the dive....

Math is a wonderful thing...

I see you are doing some projecting here.... IF you do a roud robin once the money is decided it's all about the pride and the title... Some have pride, actual pro players, some don't, lots of AZers... I actually know most of the world class players well enough to know that in an event for the title they won't be laying down even if they were already paid the round before.. Most of them have always done nothing but win so I doubt you teach them something new now...

As far as big money being a draw for TV for poker.. yup you at least got that right... But this is pool mister...

Final Four?

How bout if only the 'Final Four" gets prize money? Hopefully that would eliminate the 'chop/chop'. Wouldnt that be enough incentive to 'play for keeps'?
