Europe Mosconi Cup Team Finalised

Maybe Boyes won't be so fast to open his pie hole as last year, when he opened it the
wrong way to the wrong person and got his shirt ripped off, and his team ran to his aid.

Boyes may not have covered himself in glory, but I think Hatch comes off terribly in that story, too, to be honest.

Boyes deserved it. Doesn't surprise me you try to spin it differently.
Remind me to care, what you think ! To be honest !

I looked it up.

This will be the 21st Cup. Ralf has been on 16 teams, missing in 1995, 2004, 2005, 2012, and 2014.

Thanks. I thought it seemed like he's always there. I didn't remember that he had missed in 2012.

Whatever happened, which was next to nothing from what i can tell, seems like another example of our american friends not understanding british banter to me...

Karl and Darren are a great pairing in the doubles which i thinked helped Karl's selection

I would have preferred to have seen Chris Melling but Karl is still strong

I had to remember who the others were:
Mark Gray
Niels Feijen
Nick Ekonomopoulos
Darren Appleton
Karl Boyes

Great group. Three Brits. The only one I don't really know is Mark Gray.

And is this the first time with no Ralph Souquet?

This is a really strong team, don't kid yourselves! Darren and Niels are two of the premier players alive (both an equal match for Shane), Karl has a proven history in big events and the Mosconi, Nick is a fast rising star (3rd in the super tough U.S. Open last week) and Mark is a solid veteran who always seems to play well under pressure. I don't see any weaknesses here. Team USA are the underdogs, there's no two ways about it. ;)

Maybe so, but i dont see that as a team. Add a new coach, and it's possible the wheels will come off.

It is pure BS that Karl was chosen over Thostern. If you make an excuse by participations in Eurotour, then why did they not pick Van Den Berg, hes no1 in the european classement. Otherwise, Thostern's achievement this year is far better than Karl. And dont even try to mention WCOP, if the tourney matter that much so why didnt put it in the list of tourneys for the race-to-mosconi.
Dirty politic and pure bias.
I am european and I feel ashamed for this decision.

I tend to agree. I think daz has a lot of influence here.

....And is this the first time with no Ralph Souquet?

payback's a biotch when you piss off Mark Griffin.

as for Karl, i can't say as i'm surprised that he was the 2nd wildcard. i guess he's got more appeal in his skin tight pants, stretching for that long shot....

it's a shame that Thorsten or Melling weren't chosen.

Surprised a bit on Ralph...didn't he play strong...want to say like 5-1 or 6-1 in the last two times he played 2011 and 2013 combined (including both singles and doubles)?

Really surprised that Boyes got the 2nd wildcard instead of Hohmann, Ouschan or VD Berg.

Here's what Nick Van den Berg had to say on Facebook: "Bullshit!! That's all I can say. Iam really disappointed. Number 1 in Europe for the last 3 years. But been left out of the cup again! "

Ha....I finally caught you....no way you look this up because you are the Rainman of facts.....you clearly just knew it!

:-)

Kidding, I have no doubt you have the world's largest list of bookmarks to the answers. You are like the pool oracle.

I think Vandenberg would have been the better choice. And I really like to see Chris Melling play. The choice for Boyes was obviously political in nature since it will be played in Blackpool. Actually pretty smart play by getting the "sixth player" (the croud)more involved.

I'm a little behind....who is the European captain this year? I'm a little surprised Johan Ruijsink isn't at the helm again.

Looks like Johan is back again. https://www.facebook.com/mosconicup
