Gonna get my first ob2+ shaft for Xmas and saw on seyberts the options between 11.75/11.5/11.3..... Besides the obvious, wanted to know the difference between them in playability. I'm new to LD shafts but I've been wanting an ob for a while and any advice and information would be appreciated.

I have a OB 2 shaft. My advice would be; if your a "scratch" player, get a 2. If you're not, get a 1.

If you're at all familiar with golf, an OB 2 is like a blade. OB 1 will be more like a "cavity back" iron.

That all depends on what tip diameter you're used to. If you've always played with a standard 12.8-13.0mm tip, then I'd go with the 11.75mm.

I doubt a less-than-half-mm difference (11.75 to 11.3) will make any difference in how the shaft plays.

I would get the standard. It surprises me that Seyberts is shaving them down from what OB sells. OB doesn't sell them narrower themselves as far as I know, and they usually don't recommend shaving down LD shafts like that. Seyberts is a reputable company, so they must know what they're doing, but unless you're absolutely sure you want something different and that it won't impact the quality of the shaft, I would go with the standard OB diameter.

The difference would be the tip size.

If you like a 11.3mm tip size which is way too small for me,

but if you like it, that will be fine.


If you like a little larger diameter, the 11.75mm might be right for you----

but still too small for me.


Playability-----just depends on your skill level and what you like.

I don't really like any of those shafts. When I tried them out, I thought

I liked it the first week until I started missing balls. Then I didn't like

it anymore. I went back to my old faithful Meucci.:thumbup:

I play with an OB-1 (have for about 5 years) and love it. I can spin the ball as good as anyone with it, so no need to go smaller.

BUT, I'd love to have a 11.3 OB-2 ... but I'd use it exclusively to play snooker.

I remember trying an 11.75 OB-2 when they first came out and I felt it played slightly different than my OB-1 ... but I'm sure if would take little time to switch between the two.

Ob only makes 11.75, 12.75 and 13.25 playing shafts. You should use what you are use to. But the small the diameter, the less deflection, so maybe hit the middle ground if you like.... I prefer the 11.75 myself.

And no, seyberts does not "alter " any shafts they sell from OB.

I'm just guessing that if you wanted the smaller than standard OB2+, Seyberts would custom order it from OB. Just speculation on my part.

I have two OB2+ shafts. Love them both at 11.75mm. That's perfect for me at least.

I checked Seyberts and he's right that they sell the OB shafts in the standard xx.75, as well as the non-standard xx.5 and xx.3, and the note says "Allow 2-3 extra days for shaft turn downs."

Yep, I stand corrected. I would stay awy from those, there are three sizes that come standard from OB, not sure how many more choices folks need when buying a shaft....geez, most cues made come in the same size as OB, pick one.....why py extra for a custom unless you absolutely have to have it, especially if he does not even know which one to pick ??

Thanks for all he feedback! I really appreciate the advice and opinions. I also emailed OB (which has great customer service) and they also gave me some helpful information.
