Communication after a trade

Mid November I made a trade with a member (dlw6801) for my used mezz cue which had a alpha hybrid shaft valued at $690USD new for a predator Roadline LE-2 which was a cue I was trying to get my hands on for close to a year and a half. Their value retail are almost identical and I threw in an extra $150 to make sure I was able to close the deal.

According to another AZ member I was aware of his history as a seller but after an abundance of text messages and emails I felt comfortable making the deal and both our cues were shipped out. When my cue arrived I was happy it made it to me in good order for the most part. I was told the only issue was a small factory blemish below the wrap on the Roadline and It didn't bother me.. what bothered me wasn't the wear and tear I noticed throughout the handle but a fairly significant mark by the tip of one point.

All that said, I was still rather ecstatic to finally own the cue and so I gave him positive itrader and had sent a PM and a couple emails letting him know I received the cue and was hoping to atleast express a bit of disappointment not making me aware of the blemish the Roadline had. Nothing back from him and it's been a few weeks.. He's been online and is online as i'm writing this email.

Heres a pic first of what I was told about followed by the forearm pic i wasn't..

I can refinish the cue, it's not the end of the world. The Issue is there was No communication after the trade at all.. I know my Mezz made it to him as I was confirmed by UPS and he received it a week before I received mine. He hasn't acknowledged it or atleast given me positive itrader.

I feel like a little bit of a nit for this and I know I should have asked for better pictures before hand and more honesty. I would have likely taken the cue anyways, just wouldn't have offered the extra money to solidify the deal.

At the end of the day all I'd like is some itrader and a response. Not much to ask really.

Merry Christmas Dexter, hope you get a chance to read this

Make him give back the 150 to cover a refinishing or undo the trade. That's straight up slimy to not show such a large gouge.

Trades by mail are tough. You really have no recourse.

Absolutely that damage should have been described and photographed. Even if he isn't the picky type, as a seller he needs to describe everything because buyers deserve to know.

Send it to Proficient Billiards for refinishing or live with it.

You just can't expect people to be honest anymore when money is concerned. If you had bought it with Paypal and a credit card, you would have options. I don't know what this thread will accomplish. If you want to undo the deal maybe he will agree.

To late now, but next time use escrow (Fast_N_Loose). Marcus will help avoid these problems. Escrow on trades is a must.

I was told of a mark that was a factory blemish but i trusted that was all. I'll have the cue refinished as others have mentioned either by Erwin or Proficient. I have a wood finishing room in my shop at home and if i knew the proper materials to apply and the way to do it i'm sure I could do a great job myself. I do my own finishing on high end custom furniture for a living, would be nice if I could attempt it myself.

All i ask for is honesty. I'm 100% honest in any deal i've made and still haven't received positive itrader for a cue I sent him in great condition. It's also somewhat annoying that ALL contact on his end was broken as soon as he received my cue I sent.

This experience will not stop me from making any other transactions on AZ i will just make me more cautious and less trusting of people.. Obviously everyone is not cut from the same cloth but the bruising on the finish looks even worse in person as its Ebony and sticks out like a sore thumb.

Thanks people for your PM's and comments, hope everyone has a great holiday.

Also, If anyone knows a process in doing this refinish let me know, and if you think it isn't feasible I'll mail it to someone in the US to have it fixed properly.

Is it safe to say Erwin and Profiecient are both a safe bet??

thanks,
Jon

Jon,
If you send it for refinish either one will do a fine job, Price is about the same I think. Good luck and Happy Holidays

I would ask for the refinish to be taken care of by the previous owner. That is just crazy to sell a cue with that kind of chip in the finish and not disclose it in the listing.

Escrow is a good way to go, but, there are honest people that stand behind what they sell left on this forum. A quick phone call or email to the seller will quickly let you know whom you are dealing.
