I love Danny Diliberto but this commentary is brutal.

First of all Dick it was not aimed at you. That's why I didn't use your quote. It is aimed towards people who think Danny is "terrible". If they do think that then do something about it cause anything else is whining.
I don't really think that Danny is entitled to anything he doesn't deserve or qualify for.
I just suggested RESPECT.
If you don't like his work then you have the perfect right to do so.
But if you are going to challenge a persons scope and ability then take some action.
I know you are a literate man. So you must know this quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

"Words, words, words!"

Keone, we are getting a little 'heavy' here, but I prefer these words..."Peace, and Tolerance"..The 'bad guys' seem to be winning, in spite of what our completely unqualified leader says !...In fact, I'm kinda looking forward, to checking out, of what this crazy world has become !

I really enjoyed our little 'totally unimportant', irrelevant exchange ! (Danny D, for president :p)..I sincerely hope that you, and all of the loved ones I leave behind, can somehow manage to "right the ship" !..A daunting task indeed !..I am pretty sure we are in COMPLETE agreement on that ! ;)

PS..As usual, I managed to stray from the subject at hand ! (thats why I wouldn't make a good commentator :o)..But, I'm also quite sure, that at some point we may have to totally forget about 'political correctness'...and lop a few heads off ourselves !

Vaya con Dios, my friend ! :) (sorry, I don't know how to say that in Hawaiian)

I'm sure DD is a sweet guy, however he is past his expiration date as a 1pocket commentator. That doesn't mean I want to take his place or could do it better, it means I have an opinion based on watching 20 years of Accu-Stats 1pocket videos (and now DVDs) and listening to a wide variety of commentary. There are many guys that do it much better.

DD frequently gets the shot and strategy wrong.

Danny D

The rotation is better than his 1 pocket. Too many crazy shots in the 1 pocket.

In rotation we just have to hear about half table combos on the 9 and 4 rail position shots.

??????????

As is obvious by the tone of this thread, there are VERY few 'knowledgable' one pocket player's, who can deal with Danny's consistently poor input at that game !..It is also obvious, he drives most of his (often, more qualified) co-commentators 'up a wall' !

His one pocket tips and shot choices, have always been terrible..Lately, his 8, 9, & 10 ball commentary, has also become 'way' below par !...However, even though Pat Fleming is putting out a great visual product, it looks like (to me)..as long he insists on keeping DD around, many 'stream lover's' will just have to continue hitting the 'mute button' ! :sorry:

He is doing his best work of late at the DCC

He was horrible in the finals last night. Constantly calling the wrong shot, and don't anyone give me this crap about them having a horrible view of the table. Mark had no problems with getting it right.

He brings so much more to the table than a shot caller. He's the most entertaining of the bunch. To each their own but Danny is who I like in the booth.

No argument, Danny can tell some interesting stories !..But, haven't you noticed, unless the player's are on break..he usually interrupts himself, with his "shot selection's", then arguing about them with his booth partner ! ..Consequently, he quite often never gets back to his own story !..'Sup 'wi dat ???

PS..I guess its OK...if you enjoy 'half' stories, with NO punch line ! ;)

I listen to commentary to be educated. If I wanted to be entertained I could just watch my signed copy of Never Say Never.

I don't have the answers and no I couldn't do it better and I am not trying to be overly critical and yes I would rather have this than nothing but this commentating is terrible. Has anyone watched/listened to a different sport on TV? Typically there is a format....maybe a play by play guy, a facts guy, and a color guy that may add slight humor or a very quick "did you know" story. If this was every submitted to a TV station for possible future broadcasting of pool it would be thrown out. I am not going to give examples but if you bought the stream I would like to hear your opinion.

I watched the stream as I won it here on AZ. I have bought Accustats VHS/DVD's over 20 years. My favorite commentator is Incardona. To your point, ever thought of Danny as the color man and the other guys as the play by play? Most color guys are ex players without the broadcast skills to carry a telecast. For my money, the other guys in the booth with Danny at this DCC did not pull their weight. I can live with Danny and can more easily overlook his miss cues compared to his younger associates. Many times during the broadcast he made fun of his own calls when a player, right or wrong, took another shot.
You will never get al Michaels with the limited viewership we have.

Dick...Just thought you'd like to know you were mentioned in a poem read at the 1-Pkt HOF dinner last night! He mentioned all the greats!

Danny, if you are reading this, we all love ya, BUT...please stop doing the following:
1.Saying a ball is going to scratch
2.Saying a ball is "in"
3.Saying a ball is not in.
Other people might add a couple of things, but we love everything else about your commentary.

By the way, these little things are very irritating after a while.

Enough already

OK... Enough with THIS thread for now... It's very hard from the commentators booth to be able to look down on the table and be able to tell much about the layout....

We have 2 monitors in the booth... 1 is the overhead which is also a telestrator type device which is quite small and the other is a program monitor which shows whatever the viewer is seeing... That one is even smaller than the first one....

I will promise you there will be a monitor in the booth for the next Accu-Stats event that is large enough to actually help out all of the commentators....

All I ask is to lay off for now and if we don't make it better next event have at it....

This was one of the things I looked at this event... Bigger displays for the booth and for ME (ie. who ever is doing the scores and tpas)... I am getting older and blinder and I need help probably as much as Danny and our commentators if not more.....

Mark Wilson had no problems when commentating the finals of the 9 ball event.

Mark Wilson had no problems when commentating the finals of the 9 ball event.

Mark is also 6'4 and can see over the equipment in the booth without even trying and his eyes may still be perfect.... He had problems in several instances and I know this because I see every minute of the broadcast and hear the commentary the whole time as welll... My mind is numb for over 100 hours of it but I still can recall the areas we can be better in......

I am offering up a way that the problem can be fixed... I understand that takes the air out of you knock balloon but that's what we do... We fix problems......... we don't just wait for someone to offer us some cheese with our whine... You can keep posting on the thread but I just told you what we can and will do... It's up to you......

Thats all well and good Chris, and your efforts are much appreciated !..As I (and others) have said many times, the visual/technical quality of the Accustat stream, is outstanding. It only gets better with every new stream..

However, if you and Pat refuse to address the area of commentating, you will continue to have to listen to the 'whiner's' and 'complainers' regarding that subject !..As is the gist of this thread, most of us prefer 'sound and information', with our cheese !..There are simply too many decent commentators out there, that this "fly in the ointment" should NOT be that difficult to remedy. :scratchhead:

PS..Apologies for the :deadhorse: beating !
