ULTRA RARE 81' Custom Schon

Is that the original wrap on there still? If so, it cleaned up beautifully!

No... Cue was completely restored to original using new original linen... Original wrap was freyed and unsaveable...

"No matter what...
THATS A SWEET CUE!
No doubt a MONSTER PLAYER
I have an older R 11 steel joint,
Just awesome
BOB RUNDE HAS MADE SOME OF THE BEST PLAYERS, imo

I've always liked Schon cues, they look great and play great.
This one is right there with the best of the best Schon cues.
I also agree with the earlier post that says this cue reminds
them of the early Joss cues and I'm a big fan of those, too.

The refinish looks great, Tim, and this is a badass cue. Congrats

I'm happy your glad but it's not Cortland.... Doesn't look anything like it. The right Irish linen does look sharp though. I'll agree with that.

Derp. It isn't pressed as hard as most linens I see, had that coarse look to it. Either way, the black speck looks good.

The pressing has nothing to do with it. There are many ways to "finish" linen... You can tell this isn't Cortland from its appearance....

To me Schon had its own look way different than Joss... At the time they, Schon and Joss, were the most popular cues I'd see in halls and the tops at the time. At least for those who weren't exposed to Gus's cues... These Schons were still built solid though..

It's bumping rare Schon's week!..,Took theses pics a while back with the two new matching shafts Schon made with the original Westonghouse yellow micarta which, along with the two originals, were expertly gone over and "fitted" by Pete Tascarella and are AMAZING.

This is the first TRUE implex joint Schon I ever played with and I can't believe it hits the way it does. A couple collectors warned me about how quickly I would fall in love with this cue after hitting with it and they were right. I've hit with a few early implex joint cues and none hit like this.
:cool::)

What does his fitting service entail?

You've never head of a maker "fitting" the shafts before? It's one of the last things done in a build or resto. It may include other things but a major part is refacing the shafts and or joint so they "fit" perfectly and align correctly..
